Old Street by Excel Apartments

Decent place for one night stay. Advert said TV had streaming services but they did not work and room was slightly different to the one in the pictures which didn't seem as nice. No salt and pepper or cooking oils available. Good location and generally a nice place

Great value for money, good sized apartment with everything you need. Location is excellent, right next to pubs, restaurants and shops with only a 15 minute walk to Liverpool street station. Check in/check out were simple and straightforward. Will definitely make this my regular place to say.

Floor was filthy Bathroom wasn't that clean, cleaned some of it myself Microwave was greasy Cutlery and glasses/mugs all needed another clean, clearly hadn't been properly cleaned by previous guests or cleaners We had to use the sofa bed, there was no bottom sheet left for this. The 'curtains' in the living room did nothing to block out the light so the person on the sofa bed barely slept. It was most helpful there was washing up liquid and a toilet roll left behind to start us off. Pillows in the bedroom were comfortable. Location was great, especially having the row of shops nearby to Old Street tube station.

Was told I could check in - room Wasn’t ready there was a plumber working in the property but he wasn’t there just all his tools- no toilet paper- toilet soiled- boiler broken and leaking all over the kitchen floor

My biggest issue was with the support services - I discovered a completely clogged shower drain in my bathroom upon checking in, rendering the shower completely unusable for fear of flooding the entire bathroom. However staff were unable to provide maintenance until the next day and tried to tell me it was okay for me to leave the unit while they did the work (not remembering that I am desperately waiting for a shower and cannot go anywhere until that happens?? very low contextual awareness). No discount or refund was offered. I also pre-ordered room service during my stay, but when it wasn't provided, I finally emailed 2 days before checkout to ask for the charge to be refunded to me as I had already done all the cleaning. My request for a refund was again rejected and they immediately scrambled to provide room service for a unit that had already been cleaned by me and did not need it. Extremely poor experience interacting with the support staff; they made my stay exponentially worse than it otherwise would have been. Location is fantastic - easy access to London Underground, supermarkets, restaurants, and local outdoor food market. Close proximity to universities means there's plenty of students out, very safe place. Apartment building itself is great; easy access thru codes on door lock to building and to each unit. However, it sucked that there's no elevator and I wasn't warned beforehand, so lugging up my heavy suitcase two flights of stairs was painful.

The apartment was really nice but the people who run it are so hard to get in touch with. I kept having to have Expedia get in touch with them. Also, their "rental agreement" that we have to sign outside of the Expedia app is so sus. They indicate a £350 deposit on the Expedia site and then list it as £500 with a £104 rental fee. They say they will keep your deposit at will, not sure if we are getting it back. They also charge for towels - £12!!!! And if you decline they still put the towels in the apartment. They also charge you for cleaning or you do it yourself - but give no instructions or cleaning supplies. We were so frustrated and couldn't even shower in the morning! We asked for clarification on all of this, but no one would get back to us. The WiFi was also pretty awful, none of the 3 WiFi logins worked, until we finally got one to work after manually typing it in (instead of copy and paste). This would have been a great stay of the owners hadn't had such ridiculous house rules and if we could get in touch with them. Up until the time we finally got our instructions to check in - a half an hour late, I truly thought we had been scammed. We even did a video of the place in case they try to keep our deposit. I'd avoid this company, they ruined an entire afternoon in London because I was trying to work out the details with Expedia

Kitchen stuff all dirty. 3rd floor with no lift and no warning about it. Glass doors everywhere, and thin curtains, so light everywhere making hard to sleep. Sofa's dirty.

I have stayed here many times now and this little gem never disappoints! Excellent location, so quiet and pleasant.

Just far too hot, no fan in any of the rooms. I didn’t expect air con but something to help how hot it was. This apartment 7 is cleaner than some of the others in this block.

Overall the apartment was a good size for the location and super convenient, unfortunately the toilet had remains from the last user still in there and there was debris on the floor of the bedroom. Generally the bathroom was a little tired feeling, tape on the shower pole etc. The fan was appreciated as the apartment was extremely hot but I did stay during exceptionally hot weather. The curtains were too thin to allow me to sleep past sunrise so replacing those with blackout curtains would have increased my comfort considerably. Really easy to check in and the area felt safe. Just more attention to detail in cleaning would be good.

The flat is in a great location, but there was no wifi and the shower was stuck on a really hot water setting so showering was really difficult. There was 3 of us staying and we had to make up the sofa lounge but wasn't provided with all the linen we needed to make the bed. It was difficult to find a contact number for the facility management. By the time I found the number to contact them it was late on a Friday and no help was received.

London is a very expensive city to get somewhere to stay, so this was a really good option for the price. Nice neighborhood around the area with a ton of good restaurant choices. Locals are around the area and sometimes during the week days there were farmers markets/stalls for food here too. Great coffee shop nearby. Was a little far from train stations, 10-15 minute walk to get to the main ones like circle line or elizabeth, but again for this price you are not going to get anything better.

Great apartments these with food on the doorstep, a pub and an all round lovely city aesthetic. Minutes from Old Street, Barbican and Farringdon. Can’t recommend these enough.

Stayed here a couple of times now and I really love it! Great value, wonderful location and a quaint little neighbourhood location. I love the walk to Farringdon in the morning.

Nice amount of space but needs a bit of TLC. Heating didn’t work in the bedroom, wall was damaged near the radiator in the living room and shower was very low pressure

The check in was a bit of a faff but otherwise the apartment is really good. The location is great, I know this area a little bit and love going back. There is a supermarket very close by and plenty of bars and restaurants. It is a little rough around the edges when you look closely (some plug sockets have seen better days and the mattress could do with an upgrade) but the apartment is well appointed. You could easily spend a few days here and be very satisfied with your choice of accomodation.

The receptionist wasn’t responsible to help us to fix problems of the lock on a timely basis. That resulted we stayed outside of the room for 6 and half hours.
