What Guests Say About Their Stay

We stayed a couple of week days and were allocated a lovely room in the annex. Bed was really comfortable and room was well decorated. Lovely quiet location. Food in the restaurant was excellent too. I recommend the hanging seafood kebab. We attended a family event in the on-site function room and this was well catered. One couple decided to stay the night even though they lived locally as there were already a number of us staying there for the family event. The last remaining room was a family suite (sitting room, two bedrooms and bathrooms, all self contained) which was really lovely as a group of us later stayed in the sitting room to chat for the remainder of the evening. I didn’t even know this hotel had a couple of family suites! We will definitely try to book this when we come up with our daughter next time. Staff all very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was great too. It even included mushrooms and hash browns which wasn’t included when we last stayed earlier in the year but that was over a weekend.

Good bits: Very spacious room and nicely decorated. There was also a short cut to outside if we needed to take our dog outside. The room was very comfortable and just the right temperature and the bathroom was very generously sized with a bath and shower. The hotel and restaurant is very dog friendly which is great. We also appreciated the free dog treats on Reception. We went to the restaurant for our evening meal and the food was excellent. Not so good bits: The Wifi suddenly went off at 8pm and didn't come back on again. Also the breakfast - You are given a time slot and 30 minutes to eat your breakfast and drink your coffee/tea - Woe betide anyone who dares to go over that! The restaurant was half empty yet a couple who had arrived early were told to sit out of the way until everyone on that time slot had come in. We then witnessed a lady being told to leave her table even though she was still eating (the restaurant still had plenty of empty tables at this point). The bizarre rules and rude staff was commented on by a few guests while we were there.

The property was a perfect location for our train ride at Embasy and easy to get to. The breakfast on Saturday and Sunday was very good but Monday was a let down as the buffet style items seem to have run out of hot food at times. We were located in the annexe behind main hotel. Unfortunately these rooms are at the ‘end of the water chain’ both hot and cold ! We couldn’t have a shower etc from 7-30 until about 9 am as nothing came out of the taps. This is a big let down to an otherwise a pleasant hotel. Note….. If the annex is used for anyone with wheelchair etc it will need a pathway concreted from the back door access direct to carpark. At moment it is partially grassed and so wheelchairs sink into it. The front has 2-3 step down but would be better with a small ramp.

A lovely find, we travelled from London, the staff went above and beyond to assist us. We was attending a funeral and Paula was so helpful. Such a quaint place to stay with beautiful views and we made friends with the cats, especially Pearl. I highly recommend this place to stay. Great value for money, with breakfast included. I would definitely stay here again.

Nicely positioned geographically and they had campervan parking and welcomed pets, so great for campers and pet lovers. Very basic room. Room was clean but very cold. I was housed in an old building and the windows were not double glazed. It was a cold day. Heating was turned on only after I requested at the desk at 7pm, although I was told it was on a timer and should have been on. Heating went off at 9:30 pm. Fortunately there was an extra duvet in the room but I had broken sleep due to the cold. A real shame because I only stated the night there to get a good sleep and a not too early start to an event nearby. I checked out at 7am and the heating had not switched on. Not great for my joints. The staff were all polite and friendly. Dinner time was busy and could have been better staffed. The meal was okay. I did not have breakfast, so cannot comment.

Friendly and helpful staff, particularly on Reception. Plenty of parking. Clean room with good facilities. Breakfast was good but quite basic. Did not like the way beverages were brought to the table - a tea bag in a cup of hot water. A teapot would be much better - they’re used during evening meal service but “not allowed” during breakfast! Excellent evening meals.

There was nothing fundamentally wrong with the stay, but the room I believed I was booking was certainly mis-represented. The description states that each room is individually decorated and individually furnished, yet the walls in our ‘deluxe’ room (one up from ‘standard’) were all plain cream, 1 picture hung, no bedside cabinets, just small metal shelves……just not very enticing, which is very different from all the photos on the listing, even the ‘standard’ rooms are shown to have boutique style wallpaper and furnishings…..which is why I booked. On checking out when I mentioned this, I was just advised….‘I’ll pass on to the manager’, nothing more. Just a bit disappointing, which was a shame.

It was easy to spot our next stop over, it looked really good from the outside. Parking was easy and pretty secure. We headed to reception to check in and was met my Paula, who made us feel very welcome. She was very friendly and very informative. We checked the room out and it was behind reception, within a beautiful setting. The room was smartly decorated and presented. 2 nice double beds, large bathroom with TV and tea/coffee facilities. We did have to request more cups, but that was no issue from Paula, she did this straight away. We requested a menu and decided to stay there for a meal. The waiter seemed new, but tried his best, think he was the only one serving. The food looked appealing and tasted pretty good, the breakfast was also great too, considering it was in with the price. A very enjoyable stop over and will definitely be looking to return to the area and be booking with these guys again. Thank you!
