I spent 2 nights, accidentally. Cause I thought Portola Arabia and Grand Portola Arabia were the same. And the room wasn't able to be refunded. Therefore I stayed there during my trip in Banda Aceh. I had a room with kind of low light intensity. The wardrobe, the door, and other wooden made furnitures were weathered and damaged. The floor kind of dusty as I had some sort of upper respiratory tract infection during my stay and it was easier to gain some nose dirt. The room was also kind of scary to a certain degree. In addition, they provided you with cups, tea, coffee, sugar, but not the kettle to boil the water. I thought this hotel (in general) was this bad, but, as far as I seen the other rooms, rented by Malaysians which were foreigners (from Indonesian perspective), I think. Theirs are slightly better than mine (from the front door view). Which I tried to understand that they might have managed it like that to at least prioritise to satisfy the guests from other countries more. Which I think I'd (probably) would do the same to give a good impression towards the foreigners that visit our country. However, the staffs there. Were really polite and helpful with all my needs, which was a good point. Also, the food were tasty, so I wouldn't complain that much. So far, Portola Arabia was one of the few hotels that I won't post online and give my honest review on my social media account to protect their business, but I hope the hotel will consider to do some changes here and there. 🙏🏼☺.
