I would say, the owner, Hide was very special, talented, and did great in executing Omotenashi spirit, rooted in Japanese mindset of hospitality centering around care rather than expectation, during our stays. The house itself was very unique and had all kinds of handmade features everywhere, much to our enjoyment!! I am sure all Japanese and non-Japanese visitors will enjoy staying there. It is not your ordinary hotel experience. Instead, it is a zen environment where you must be respectful to and aware of your fellow guests. During the Izakaya style happy hours, you get to listen to Hide’s Sanshin (Okinawa guitars) performance. The room we stayed in reminds me of my grandma’s house: old and traditional yet amazingly tidy and cozy. I highly recommend it!!

I hadn't stayed in a hostel for over 20 years so I was a little worried, but it was great. Sleeping on the top bunk in a small room when you are a tall man like myself is going to mean some cuts in comfort, but that doesn't take away from the overall experience. I will go there again next time I'm in town for sure (if there is availability). It was worth the savings, and Hide-san went out of his way in many ways to help me, even sending me my hat in the mail that I forgot there in my room.

Hotel manager was excellent. Knew enough English to help us. He created bus routes for us which aside from walking is the most economical way to travel in Okinawa. Okinawan signs are Japanese only and the locals speak very little English so our Hotel manager was a god send.

Hide' is the most kind. He provides quiet Japanese-Style rooms with working AC, a shower, couple bathrooms and a washer with drying rack. The kitchen was very nice, and he always has some food, drink or spare beer to purchase at a low price if you don't feel like taking the walk to the nearest Family Mart or Lawsons. Hide' normally plays the Sanshin in the early evening, and it is a delight! There are also spare Kimonos and Sanshins within the guesthouse to play or take photos in. A+ accommodations, We will be back next time we visit the island.

I chose this place after reading the review. This is a great location if you plan to ho to the music town. Mr. Miyazawa Kazufum performed fir the last time in OkinaWa the day I arrived. I ended up buying the ticket from the fellow guest and really enjoyed the performance. The owner is wonderful. He went out of his way to take me to the emergency room when I fell ill. He drove me to the bus stop to the airport the last day since I didn't have the car. He also made us his special treat in the morning. The facility is ok. The price is reasonable. I highly recommend this cute guesthouse. Thank you

Goya-so is one of the nicest little guest houses I've ever had the pleasure of staying at. Hide San looked after us from the welcome cup of tea to the free pancake each morning and the directions on check-out. The rooms are lovely little tatami and futon chambers and each is decorated in a mixture of Japanese and Okinawan style. The traditional thin panel-walls mean that you can hear your neighbors, so if you are looking for a place to make a lot of noise, or to be totally isolated from your neighbors then a business hotel is probably a better bet, but I would choose Goya-so again and might even return to Okinawa city just to stay there again.

The owner is very nice and can suggest fun activities in the area. He can also speaks English. He performs an informal sanshin (instrument) concert of traditional Okinawan songs during most evenings. There are several small things to do in the area that we were able to cover (the main ones) in about a day--the local market, the zoo, sento, and more. One thing to keep in mind is that the buses are very expensive and the ones that aren't highway buses can run 20-40 minutes late. The Goya-so Guesthouse is pretty far from all of the main tourist attractions, so if you're here for those places then commuting will get pretty expensive and time consuming. But if you are on a big budget, have already been to the common places, or are looking for a more personal and local experience then I recommend the Goya-so Guesthouse.
