Hotel Star Plaza Ikebukuro

Staying here was such a pleasure, the staff is very friendly and accommodating and basic amenities are included like toothbrushes, combs, etc. I loved staying here and intend to do so again in the future. If you're a light sleeper, I wouldn't recommend staying here because it's in a very lively area that never really sleeps. I'm a big fan of that so I loved it.

I stayed at this hotel once before and had a great time but at this room (smoking) I didn't intend to be in a smoking room. The smell was strong and a bit hard to get used to, amenities and all were great as before but the bidet on this one worked a bit differently than the other room, I had to be sitting a certain way. It was a bit noisy but that's other guests not the hotel, just a strong smell and bidet issues that bring it down, still a lovely location and very nice staff.

Friendly staff, affordable price, convenient

Small but clean rooms. Check-in and Out is done via machine so it’s easy even if you don’t speak Japanese. Location is not the best though. I love Ikebukuro but this specific spot might not be the best

The area is good except late at night, you will get approached by girls holding signs or guys with earpieces. The staff is very strict about enforcing hotel rules. The room is very good and has everything you need.

Breakfast & &ervice

While I may rate this hotel well, this room space is definitely not for those who mind small rooms/very enclosed areas. Personally myself i had accidents just moving around my stuffs to pack up on the last few days and people need to note of the sharp corners of some rooms. Otherwise, its just a decent stay for single travelers.

An old hotel, located in a busy nightlife area in Ikebukuro. Rooms are small, but it has everything you need and is clean and comfortable. The small breakfast provided was a welcome addition. Close to the station too.

Nice place to stay for a short time

Nice cheap room. You get the basic amenities and a free breakfast too. Not much to complain about, however, there are definitely better hotels out there. But for the price, this is an amazing location even if it is in a seedier area with some less reputable businesses nearby.

The immediate neighborhood is rather sketchy.

The hotel reception is available till late, which is convenient for us as our flight reached Haneda at 10:30pm

first of all, this place is very affordable, the staff is very friendly, and it is very conveniently close to ikebukuro’s train station. but in the future i would want to book one more price point higher than this. now for the stuff i wish someone had told me just so i knew what to expect from a western background. this is a japanese business hotel, which means it’s meant for quick and cheap accommodations. size: it is cramped. the room literally only has room for a bed, a suitcase, and a thin desk. the bathroom literally only has room for a toilet sink and a *short* shower space. i’m not very tall and i still had to try not to hit my head on the ceiling. in general, expect to have to squeeze and shuffle by your stuff and your partner. cleanliness and condition: i’m not sure if the standards of cleanliness are just different in japan, but it was discomforting. the room was crazy dusty. lamps, walls, ceilings, anything not in immediate reach of the sweet old cleaning ladies, had piles of dust. in some cases a few millimeters worth of build up. balls of dust all over the walls and ceiling. we ended up wiping everything down ourselves. the bathroom, while generally clean, had a little mold in the corners of the rooms, and the toilet had some hidden spots of dark build up too. there were parts where the carpet didn’t even fully reach the wall. location: extremely convenient. but there are a lot of girl bars around, making it feel a little sketchy
