San Karlu Hotel

Since the hotel is located on the side street, there’re some steps to getting down and up to: from the hotel. It’s very quiet but 10 mins walk to Republic Square. Many restaurants and busy area nearby. The room we stayed has a tiny window which can’t see anything or use it properly. So the room is dark and no fresh air. Air conditioning is needed in this case. It’s quiet and cool. Good selection of breakfast. Very friendly staff.

Great location, good amenities and breakfast

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and 3 days. We were initially assigned a different room than the one we booked, so we immediately requested a change. Michael worked hard to switch us and managed to get us a room with a window. The hotel was very clean, and the breakfast was good. The staff were especially friendly. I would like to thank Michael and Matthew.

Great location, staff are absolutely amazing. Great bit of advice from another review which we took advantage of, make use of their sister Hotel as it is central located and whilst this hotel has a Pool their sister Hotel has an amazing view from the pool overlooking the three cities. You can use it for free just like reception now. All in all a great place to stay.

Clean room, lovely staff, great location. Nice rooftop pool. Only suggestion would be luggage racks in room. Shower doors also slid open of their own accord sometimes - but still a very enjoyable stay.

Excellent location and facilities.. you pay mainly for the location and great access to sights of valetta. Bfast was nice and great attentive staff who go above and beyond to assist guests

Incredible location, one of the nicest hotel breakfasts we’ve ever enjoyed. Intimate feel, wonderfully helpful staff. Will definitely return here when visiting Valletta again!

We had a great stay at the hotel. It is located in a fantastic location, and all of the staff made our stay faultless. The breakfast buffet was great!

The staff were all very nice. Breakfast was tasty with a good coffee machine. The pool was out of service but offered the use of a pool at another property. A little inconvenient but nice that they had that available. The only issue I had was the temperature of the room in the evenings. If I left the window cracked open. The sounds of others doors opening and closing could be loud even with the exhaust fan in the bathroom left running. With the window closed it didn’t seem like the air conditioning did much even when set to 18 C

Overall I would say the hotel was good. The room size was medium. A bit tight to spread the suitcases. There was a small table with a chair. It can be used to as a dressing table bit too small for two people to sit and eat. There was a wardrobe with a safe. A small refrigerator, kettle, tea, coffee etc.a tv. Iron wand iron table was provided on request. A complementary jug of water was provided every day. Room had a very small window. The room we booked was meant to have a city view but didn’t. When enquired why we weren’t given the advertised/ booked room we were told a room with city view doesn’t exist. The entrance of the hotel was accessed after going down a stretch of stairs , with heavy suitcases in can be an issue. While Ordering food the delivery people were not able to easily locate the entrance. The bathroom was stunning and the fixtures were of high quality. The mirror was lovely. They provided handwash, body wash and shampoo/ conditioner was combined, there were bathrobes and slippers. The AC was centralized which we couldn’t control so had to ask for a fan as it was too hot in the hotel in March even though the highest temperature outside was 16 degree celcius. Food was very tasty. Variety was limited but the taste of the food compensated for it. Staff were very helpful. The only downside for us was the location of the hotel , the streets were narrow and too steep.

Great hotel in a quiet part of Valletta, good location. Excellent breakfast

Really liked our stay. Staff were all super friendly and lovely - from the front desk to the restaurant. Very helpful with recommendations. Room was cleaned very well each day. Location was good - very walkable to everything in Valletta. Manager was super helpful too and kindly moved us to a larger room when it became available.

Great communication pre-stay! Fantastic staff throughout the hotel. Friendly and helpful 24 hour reception, wonderful greetings and always making sure everything was making your holiday pleasant. Every area was sparkling clean and the rooms were superb. The free morning breakfast buffet was a great way to start your day, fresh sliced fruits, local pastries, hot breakfast as well. Thank you all for making our stay in Valletta extra special.

There is no air conditioning in the bedrooms. The hotel states it has air conditioning and a swimming pool, neither was true. The hotel was set on heating mode during the entirety of the stay and the rooms were far too hot as a result. The hotel staff offered a fan for the room. The swimming pool was not open during the entire stay. Nice location and a decent breakfast on offer.
