We enjoyed every aspect of the lodge, from the room to the spa to the restaurant to the safari! The staff are genuinely kind and very helpful.
Unfortunate for us, a tropical cyclone moved in on just our second day and we were all forced to stay in and not go out on safari for our safety. The staff took such good care of us all, ensuring we were comfortable and cared for. While other lodges were closing and being evacuated, Kapama River Lodge did not miss a beat. In addition, they took in guests from other lodges and gave them the best experience possible.
I will say, we had such an incredible first two safaris, seeing so many animals and learning so much from our guides, that despite everything we still left fulfilled and happy!
I cannot wait to return to Kapama, and will be telling everyone who will listen about this amazing company!!

What a fantastic property right inside the game reserve with daily game drives to catch the big five. The food and service, including impeccable hospitality were the highlight of staying here. It’s a beautiful, luxurious modern property, right across the HDS airport. Highly recommend staying for atleast 2 nights ideally three!

we got a stomach bug from the hotels food which compromised half or stay. We had to skip half of the game drives which was really bad. Hotel management could have handled the situation but they couldnt care less

Wow wow wow what an incredible experience!! Everything at River Lodge was just amazing, all of the staff are so friendly and the food is delicious, you get to pick from a set menu for each meal which changes each day and all drinks are included. The absolute highlight though is the safari itself, you get 2x 3 hour drives a day which go so quickly. Our guide Phillip and his tracker Kulani were absolutely incredible, they made sure we saw all the animals and got us really close to them. Phillip was so knowledgable and we loved having him as our guide, we got to see the big 5 several times and even a leopard cub! We had the best experience ever at River Lodge and highly recommend to anyone. We stayed 3 nights which was enough to see everything but we definitely didn’t want to leave!!

An amazing 4 days spent here. Every single member of staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Thankyou to the Reception team for traxking down our lost luggage. Thank you to the Management team who recognised it was a special occasion for us both and the room upgrade was amazing, thank you. Food, Pools, Hospitality, everything was perfect. But, the best was Nevermind and Anzi who guided us on the game drives where we managed to see the Big 5 and more including Hyena on a kill, stealing it from an out numbered Leopard, and a Leopard dining on its earlier kill. They went out of their way to track the animals. A special Thankyou to both Nevermind and Anzi. We will certainly.be back in a couple of years.

This lodge was an amazing stay! They provide 2 safaris, one in the morning and one at night, as well as breakfast/lunch/dinner. The guides are fantastic at finding animals, and were very thoughtful on finding specific animals from the Big 5 that we haven’t seen. I would definitely stay here again!

Kapama met and surpassed all expectations we had for a 5-star game reserve. The staff were ever present to ensure your stay was as you wished, the facilities were clean and easily accessible, and the decor/architecture was outstanding. Sometimes, the stars do align. And it is easier to align if the game reserve staff go above and beyond. This game reserve did exactly that. We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary and decided on a whim to experience a game drive holiday. From the pickup at the airport to dropping off, our stay and experience here went far beyond our expectations.
What makes this game reserve stand out is the friendliness and attention to detail each staff have, and they striving to make us feel at home and welcomed.
The all inclusive stay has wonderful food and drinks. We stayed four nights and found it perfectly adequate to enjoy the two daily included game drives. We had the perfect guide and tracker, Edwin and Tokollo, whom we clicked well with, and sharing the vehicle with the cute couple David and Aggie too. Every game drive the six of us have together is wonderfully informative, funny and fun. Thank you both, Edwin and Tokollo for making this a perfect trip. Truly memories to last a lifetime.

What a beautiful experience this was. I was blown away with the hospitality and service this lodge provided. The staff are incredible and make you feel at home. They go above and beyond. Tintswalo, Erasmus, Faith, Collins and Nicco were a few to mention. The game drives were sensational . This will remain a core memory for years to come. Can’t wait to visit again.

If you are going to splurge on a safari, you might as well do it right and visit Kapama. They get to know each guest and pamper you, but the amazing staff also give you time and space to do your thing. Whether you want a romantic retreat, epic family vacation or a friend’s get-away, Kapama is an awesome spot. It is where I’ll take all my visitors who make the long journey to Southern Africa to come see me.
