Hostal Veracruz

We stayed there twice in two weeks. Overall was a good stay. The second stay, our room was out of WIFI service. Needed to work and was unable to work because wifi was out of range. Depending what side of the Hostal you stay on, the street noise can go into 330am. Good staff and great area.

This place was in the perfect location ! A little loud at night but by then i was so tired it didn’t matter. The room was TINY but served its purpose.

The property was in the best location possible for a first time visitor to Madrid. It was clean but very small- not sure how they managed to make the photos look so roomy. The check in was easy and everythong you want to experience and see is nearby.

Muy limpio, bien ubicado, habitaciones remodeladas/ recicladas a pesar de ser un edifico viejo. Staff muy amable. En el baño no hay secador pero te lo prestan, cambio de toallas cuando lo solicitas y limpieza diaria Un poco ruidoso ya que abajo hay mucho movimiento. Sin duda muy opción para una corta estadía en Madrid!

The hotel was easy to find and I’m glad there was an elevator, but our room was on the fourth floor so we did have to walk up around twenty steps. The room was small but enough room to lay out our suitcases which was nice. I wish there was a few more hooks in the washroom or in the room in general to hang more items. I didn’t like having to go ask the reception to use the hairdryer every time but I am glad they provided one. They even helped us to boil water so I would say the counter staff was very nice and pleasant. Their doorbell is very annoying and rings at all hours of the day when new people check in or when patrons forget their keys maybe. I would prefer if the doorbell wasn’t so loud to wake me up! The street noise is very very loud since they are below a bar that has live musicians all night but when you close all the shutters including the wooden shutters it is less noisy, but you will get no natural light this way. However I think with the location this is unavoided. People often forget to close the lobby door behind them but I think it’s crucial for safety to close this! Maybe the signage on the ground floor could be more obvious.

Todo muy bonito y el personal muy amable

Hôtel bien situé, chambre petite mais lit confortable et grande douche. Malheureusement mal insonorisé. Notre chambre donnait sur la rue, beaucoup de bruit jusqu’aux petites heures du matin. Et la famille voisine de notre chambre était aussi très bruyante (cris et pleurs).

Great location! Right off Sol Plaza, so I could see the Christmas tree going up from the balcony. The room was small, but clean and was bright. Bathroom sink was tiny and hard to use. Toilet was fine for me, but I could see someone else bigger having issues. Shower was good. At night you can hear partiers until 5am, which is probably true for anywhere with bars nearby, but it's not too loud. I wore ear plugs to drown out any remaining noise with the windows shut. Overall, great value for the price and views.

Pretty much what I expected for a 2 star hotel. A bed, a bath and a place to store my stuff. It was very clean, the staff were friendly and it was secure. Good place for the price.

The room was extremely small, did not look like the pictures shown. The parking the hotel had a deal with was closed, and there was no help with a partial reimbursement. Our air conditioner was linking on our bed, they did fix this. The staff were nice, but the room was horrible. It was close to everything, but it was so loud at night we couldn’t sleep.

This is clearly a two-star "hostal," so understand what you are getting before staying there. It is one floor of rental rooms (3rd floor) in a very old building with two other different hostals on the 2nd and 4th floors and a common first floor entrance to all three. The room was very small and very low-end, the paint on the window frames was peeling, and the white towels were old and rough and brownish as if washed in rusty water with stains. We found no remote for either the TV or the AC, and the person at the desk left immediately after our late check in. There is no resemblance between what we got and the pictures of rooms on the actual Hostal Veracruz website. Having said that, the room and its relatively newish bathroom were clean, and I believe the room was safe. The location in Madrid Centro next to Puerta del Sol is excellent though somewhat noisy. Taxis cannot access the hostal directly so you have to walk a block with your luggage, which surprised us but is no big deal. We were charged almost $250 dollars for our one night, which is absurdly overpriced. For people on a budget willing to pay no more than maybe $125 and not looking for something remotely 4 or even 3 star it works, and again the location is excellent. There are probably other hostals in the neighborhood which are actually "nice." But it was not what we expected or led to believe based on the Veracruz website and we would never pay that price for a place like that and would not choose it again.

Great place with great location, very nice view from the balcony. We had a great experience staying here.

The hostal is overrated and overpriced. The room was so old with below average condition, however my booking was for a superb double room. To pay such an amount of 137 USD for one single night I think I should be accommodated in a hotel not a hostal. Hotel.com should provide and investigate more accurate information about the properties announced as the photo and the review refelect completely different image
