It is located right next to Luzern Station. It is very convenient, as you have access to the grocery stores situated around the station. The boat landing is also nearby, making it easy to take a boat trip to visit Mount Rigi, and you can also reach Mount Pilatus quickly by train.

The hotel was lovely, staff were understanding and attentive. I had a few small issues which were handled promptly. Great position to walk everywhere and if doing a tour, the pick up is right around the corner. Breakfast was good. The only thing was that there was a toddler above us who was running around and the floor seems very noisy.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Hotel Monopol. The location is excellent — right next to the train station and within easy walking distance of the Old Town, city walls, lake piers, restaurants, and grocery stores, which made exploring Lucerne very convenient. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options, and the staff were especially friendly and helpful, even assisting us with contacting the airport about our delayed luggage. The only minor downside is that the building is older and some of the furniture feels a bit dated. Like many hotels in Switzerland, the rooms rely mainly on opening the windows for cooling instead of air conditioning, so street noise from the busy area can sometimes be noticeable at night. Overall, the great location, excellent service, and good breakfast made this a very pleasant stay.

The first room had an overwhelming, nauseating odor that smelled strongly of decay and feces. We opened the windows and went out hoping it would air out, but when we returned in the evening the smell was even worse. My wife contacted the front desk. A young lady and Kyle responded. The young lady inspected the room and confirmed the foul smell. They offered us a different room. The second room had its entire view completely blocked by construction tarps and scaffolding. As we began to settle in, I discovered a clear trail of ants crawling across the bed and floor. We contacted Kyle immediately. His response was rude, aggressive, and highly unprofessional. He refused to come up and inspect the infestation himself and dismissively told us those were our only two options: sleep in the foul-smelling room or sleep with the ants. He also refused my request for a manager, stating none was available that night. Emotionally exhausted and unwilling to let our tired young children sleep in such unsanitary conditions, we packed up everything again in the middle of the night and searched for alternative accommodation in an unfamiliar city. The repeated packing, late-night stress, and anxiety of trying to keep the kids calm turned what should have been the relaxing start of our family vacation into a chaotic and disappointing ordeal. We did not use the room or any facilities for even a single night. The next day I spoke with Ms. Bhakya Spieckecmann. She appeared to have received an incompl

The only positive about Hotel Monopol is the prime location right across from the train station. Other than that, the hotel was very below standard for the price we paid. As Americans, I would compare the overall quality more to a Motel 6. We paid around $1,350 for 2 nights without breakfast, which was absolutely not worth it. The room was extremely basic with old furniture, and the bathroom amenities were minimal !!!! shampoo only, no conditioner. Overall, very disappointing value for the money and not a hotel I would stay at again.

Our room overlooked the town, but it was covered in scaffolding and tarps, so we didn’t get fresh air when we opened the window and couldn’t see anything out the windows. Otherwise, the location was great, hotel was clean and staff was nice. Beds were a little hard. Housekeeping services were great. The Nespresso machine and water in the room everyday was a nice bonus.

The staff were very helpful and very nice. The room seemed to be cleaned well, but the furniture and carpet in the room and carpet in the hallway were stained which made everything feel a little dirty. The bathroom was very clean which we really appreciated. The bed and pillows were comfortable. We had a hard time finding the hotel because I was looking for the pictures I had seen online of the outside. It would have been nice to know beforehand that the front would be under construction. It might have saved hours caught in traffic and driving in circles.
