Hotel Montana Zürich

Location

The location is excellent, especially since it’s near the train station. However, the hotel itself feels outdated, and the pillows and bed are not very comfortable. On the positive side, the breakfast and customer service are excellent.

Room was perfect for a one night stay in Zurich. The hotel is close to the train station and near a beautiful park. The property is a bit run down but full of charm with wonderful staff. Would stay again

The hotel was within east walking distance of the train station. There was an elevator for upper floor rooms. A nice variety of items were presented at breakfast.

This is a great place to stay within walking distance from train station and old town. Breakfast buffet was included. Small storage room was provided for luggage as we arrived in early morning. Elevator available. Staff accommodating and gave sight seeing information and directions. Room was clean. Bathtub a bit high for anyone with limited mobility. Otherwise stay was perfect for our needs.

Walking distance to the train station. Great restaurants are just 15 min walk. Breakfast buffet at the hotel was excellent, worth adding it as an extra. Our room was next to a building that was in the midst of renovation so a bit noisy early morning.

The Good: Silvan saved this review. He was friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. My son had a medication that needed to be refrigerated and he ensured that it was and that all staff knew about it so I could get it at any time. When we needed to be assigned a new room, he understood. He didn’t try to convince me I was wrong or fight me- he was just happy to make us happy. We thank you so much Silvan! The breakfast was also very good and coffee anytime you want it definitely a plus. They have the hospitality down! The location is great! Right next to the train station and easy walk to old town. The bad: When we first checked in we were given a family room on the old side of the hotel. It was horrific. Stains on the bed frame itself, a bathroom that the entire floor was the shower, and mold everywhere- I was afraid to touch anything. We were then given a room on the “renovated side” which although much cleaner didn’t have the extra bed we paid for! My husband and I had to share a queen size bed with our son. To top things off they give one pillow and it is too flat! We were not comfortable at all. I am still waiting on my partial refund for the fact that we paid for an extra bed for our son we never got. ***Note that renovations are going on next to the hotel and they start at 7am! Wish it was mentioned before we stayed. I know it is not something the hotel has control over so I do not hold it against them at all! I just wish we knew before hand.

Clean room , friendly staff , proper breakfast and close to everything

Breakfast buffet was very good, lots of fresh eggs, fruit, juice and pastries. Good coffee machine. Very convenient to train station and not far from the main streets. Overall very clean.

The hotel avoids the most expensive streets of Zürich, and offers a satisfying breakfast. The room and building are old and historic, but the showers are modern. Most shops are a few streets away, on the other side of the train station.

This is no reflection on any of the professional polite staff but the Hotel was not was expected. Looking back at the online pictures of the Hotel and room, we were somewhat shocked on arrival. The bedroom was the biggest shock. It was small, run down and generally in a very poor condition. The bed is one that sits about a foot off of the floor, so very awkward with someone with mobility issues. For a room that size, I have never seen such a huge TV. It must be 47” HUGE. We paid for a delux double so not sure what a normal double would be. Lights in bathroom were out so we had one working out of four. Handle broken off in bath, so nowhere to grab as the bath was slippery Toilet seat moving around. In general the bathroom was in a very poor state. Fold up seat was found in the tiny wardrobe, which left little to the imagination. The breakfast offered was good with plenty of fresh option to be had. Location sold it to us as it is only about 300 yds from Zurich HB, which was great as we had planned trips to Tiflis. To summarise, fantastic staff and it is a good hotel for young backpackers but so if you require a little luxury away from home.

The location is hard to beat. The hotel is about a block and a half from Zurich HB train station. The staff are very polite, all are always busy working but they remain attentive to guests. I found the breakfast buffet to be quite good. What I would change are the pillows which are not supportive, at all.
