Hotel as you enter is lovely, a cosy vibe and friendly welcome from staff. Lots of seating area for drinks by the bar. We stayed in a junior suite which was decorated lovely, bathroom was great with robes and nice soaps (only thing I’d recommend changing is the floor in bathroom which looked oddly cheap compared to everything else). Lovely tea and coffee facilities with biscuits is a nice addition for when you get back from a day out. Happy hour with complimentary cheese and biscuits is a fab idea and the espresso martinis were nice. Only downsides that took the shine off things, one was the TV didn’t have apps or phone casting even though it said it had both it’s not actually set up and we’d plan to come back early and watch a film on Netflix so that was a shame. Then I slept terribly as the walls were so thin (room 57) and I could hear the man next door or below, unsure which, snore all night so I barely slept then when I did I was woke up early by the same people at 6.45am getting up for their day talking!! You really need to sound proof the room properly that’s not ok. And if you can’t sound proof you need to provide good ear plugs and a white noise machine. Overall lovely just the edge taken off by not sleeping.

It’s in a great location with its own private parking (£15 per night). Room was comfy and staff very helpful. Good base for a stop en route to Dover.

Hotel was really lovely, with helpful, friendly staff. The building is beautiful, and choice of breakfast was great. Presumably due to the age of the building, there was no air conditioning, but a large fan was provided. The only slight downside was the leaking shower, but not a deal breaker, and everything was superb, in a great area of Canterbury 😀😀

Disappointing stay overall. The room was extremely small, very hot, and the shower had poor water pressure. The room faced the street, so opening the window resulted in a lot of noise from outside. I requested a room change due to these issues, but the hotel was unable or unwilling to accommodate the request. The corridor to the room was also very low in places. Unfortunately, this was not a comfortable or enjoyable stay, and I would not choose to stay here again.

Lovely hotel near station & town centre. Combines stylish and modern yet still an ancient hotel. Good food and the happy hour cocktails was a treat. Would recommend to anyone visiting Canterbury

It was a good location, but be careful on the room you get. We had a quiet one in the courtyard, but we heard a couple had to move in the middle of the night because of noise from the pub below. The staff were aware but didn’t apologize which was quite disappointing. So, it’s good, but you have to ask for a room away from the main road /pub

Exceptionally accommodating staff. Jack was most pleasant and Phil most learned with regards cocktails. Sandra the manager is always most helpful. It really is an exceptional little boutique hotel . Thank you for a lovely stay I will return again in early June.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Falstaff in Canterbury. The hotel is in a great location to explore the city and there are lots of good restaurants to choose from in the area. We paid for breakfast included option and it was well worth the price - very good cooked breakfast options, and continental options were adequate - all the food was fresh and nicely presented. We really enjoyed the 6-7pm happy hour in the bar - it's a great idea and a good way to break the day between sightseeing and relaxing into the evening. All staff at the hotel were really friendly and helpful. The room, especially the bathroom, was visibly cleaned to a high standard - the only niggle for me was the fabulous bed side table lamps - they could do with a good dust - they wouldn't pass the Four In A Bed test, let's put it that way. The only advice I would give people is that if you are booking via Expedia, don't be fooled by the lovely photo of the room with a stand alone bath in the room - you think that is what you will get when you arrive, but we didn't. The room we had was really spacious, had a great seating area with sofa etc and a comfy king size bed, but the bath was very firmly in the bathroom in the room we were allocated. If you're looking for romance you might want to liaise with the hotel directly to make sure you get the type of room that you want.
