— What You Can Expect —
Located right on picturesque Hillarys Boat Harbour, AQWA is an amazing underwater world dedicated to marvelous marine life. Here, you can explore over 12,000 km of Western Australia’s stunning coastlines in just one day! Encounter incredible creatures hailing from the icy waters of the southern ocean and the tropical wonderland of coral reefs in the far north—and everywhere else in between
Visitors can get a close up view of large sharks, rays, and turtles as they travel the ocean floor in the hundred-meter underwater tunnel. With over 20 scheduled talks and feeds available to join daily, everyone can get the chance to learn about the aquarium and its more than four thousand species. Kids can interact with some of them in the immersive Touch Pool. The more daring can snorkel or dive with sharks for an additional fee.
AQWA has seven exhibits to replicate the beautiful natural surroundings of each animal. Spot the sea dragons that call the Great Southern Coast home. Visit the Perth Coast to see jellyfish that live along the city’s shore. Learn about the underwater world of the highly-isolated Far-North Coast. The tropical lagoon habitat houses odd-looking fish, and even crocodiles. Approach some of Western Australia's most dangerous creatures, like stonefish, sea snakes, and the infamous blue-ringed octopus in the Danger Zone. Drop by the Coral Reef Exhibit to see one of the world’s largest, most colorful living coral reefs. And don't miss out on the new Glowing Ocean Exhibit, which uses UV lighting to deliver a more detailed sight of reef fish and anemones.
