I really like the location of the hotel. It was located in a quiet area.

The two staff that manned the desk were very nice. However, when I discussed my concerns about the condition of the rooms, the only thing they could offer was changing rooms. The gentleman at the desk at 3:30 am said he would talk to the manager but I haven't heard from anyone. The original room I was given had cobwebs so large on the walls around the bed, it was clear that the room had not been cleaned in quite sometime. The deadbolt did not work. There were white stains on the upholstery of the brown desk chair. The edges of the bed spread were frayed. There were sticky spots on the desk area and on the table next to the bed. I was offered a different room so I took it. Little did I know the condition of the linens and bathroom.The sheet had an orange/reddish stain in the location of where an adult would be laying as if that was from bodily fluid or waste. Stained sheets should not be reused and should definitely not be left on a bed a person is paying to use. I tried using towels to lay on top of the sheets so that I could still get some rest and one of the towels had a brown stain on it. The toilet would not stop running even after jiggling the handle to make it stop. The tv wall mount was broken leaving the tv leaning forward and supported by the wall. It was a completely miserable experience. I decided I could not stay and chose to sleep in my car instead. I understand that Microtel is a discount hotel, however, cleanliness should never be compromised.

This property is fantastic! Very under-rated!!! I have always have had great experiences here. The staff is great and the hotel is very clean. The complimentary breakfast is plentiful and there is coffee all day! Don't hesitate to stay here!

The rooms are not taken care of, the sinks had cracks in them, the counter top in the bathroom was chipped in multiple places. There was rust on all the metal pieces in the bath area. The shower head had one stream of water coming out of it and was rusted. The hotel in general was not cared for, the landscaping was non existent. The parking lot has holes in it. Just not a nice place to stay at all!!

Worked well for our quick overnight in Ames. Clean besides needing new carpet.

Nice motel, nothing fancy, but clean and friendly. Basic breakfast.

I was in town for mom’s weekend at Iowa State. It was a good place to sleep and get ready to go.

We were in town only for one night. The first room we were in had a strong mold/wet dog smell in the bathroom, but front desk staff were quick to get us a new room which was great. Limited breakfast options, but filling and good for the price. Good budget hotel, we would stay again.

The hotel staff was incredibly unfriendly to us. We had just driven 6 hours with my 2 year old and 8 year old. My 2 year old had been in his car seat cooped up for several hours. We arrived at about 8:30 p.m. He was VERY active when we got into the room because he was stuck in his car seat for so long. He needed to get some energy out. He was running around the room (in a controlled manner - but he was busy). We did not even have our bags unloaded (so maybe after 8 minutes of getting in and getting settled) we get a call from the front desk that we were being too loud for the people below us! Keep in mind it was not even after 9:00 p.m. at this time. I felt like we couldn't even walk around unpacking our bags for fear of getting scolded again! I let the kids watch a movie and they settled down but after that we were not welcomed by the front desk staff at all. Anytime we had a question we were treated as if we were outcasts. The next day, we asked for help with the television in the workout room (which was a pretty lame workout room) and he couldn't figure it out so he just walked out after trying to help us for maybe 2 minutes... Didn't apologize. He didn't care that it didn't work. We then left to go and find a park nearby because we needed to get out of there. We felt very unwelcomed when we went to breakfast as well. My kids are GOOD kids... perfect, NOPE. But.... not like we were treated. If you have kids, do NOT go to this hotel.

Great hotel. The check in was quick and easy,very friendly gentleman. The rooms were clean and inviting. Bed very Comfortable . Breakfast was good ad well.

Great Price although could use some basic maintenance (the little things like toilet needs the handle jiggled occasionally after flushing, window screen was loose).

Rm 112 has a serious mold problem in the bathroom. The smell was so overwhelming we had keep the door closed the entire time. My daughter and I should have asked for another room but we were exhausted from that day’s travel. Of course I used my rewards on this stay so I really feel bummed.

Staff couldn’t provide me with a receipt or how much the room cost. And I did not receive a receipt from Expedia.

Good value for the price. All was fine with my stay

Confident to Highway. Rooms clean and nice breakfast. Bathroom was insanely small. Sink separate and was fine but toilet and shower in very small area.
