SpringHill Suites Birmingham Downtown at UAB

Very comfortable

Needed a last minute hotel that was inexpensive but nice in the downtown Birmingham Area, and this was a perfect choice. Right in the heart of Birmingham! This hotel was Great for the Family and I. Only thing I did not like was the parking situation we had to park on the street however the meter stopped running at 8 PM that night to 8 AM in the morning. We got up early enough to not have to pay the meter but the little parking that they do have is first come first serve. There is a parking garage, but we were not sure if they validated parking. Overall, a great stay and if you do have to park on the street it is very inexpensive. I believe it’s like a dollar for one hour.

The young lady at the front was about to get off at 3 but my encounter with her was pleasant .The bathroom was not what I expected I did not like the tub I prefer walk in showers.The hallway lobby an elevators where extremely hot . A the parking garage was off limits so I had to take my wheel chair bond husband a search for street parking .

Everyone had a great attitude and were very nice!

Staff was friendly and helpful. I had several walkable optiona for dinner and easy freeway access for where I needed to go.

It was convenient for my family visit at UAB

It was a okay place to stay

The staff was great! But the amenities list a bar/lounge and we spent more money and drove out of our way to stay there hoping to relax and have a drink. Disappointed to arrive and see a few run down seats in the entry they are calling a lounge. Very disappointing being as the hotel was not cheap! We could have stayed at a best western and saved money.

Only down side was the pool was out of order

Friendly staff. Clean room and property. Comfortable spacious room. Easy parking garage.

First off. The receptionist didn’t say anything about the parking ticket validation only said that it cost $20 a night for parking (which I was not informed about until check in). I got charged for parking everytime I left because they never said anything about the validation. The breakfast was terrible they had no options everything was out of order.

Positives: hotel staff is very nice. They tried to be helpful. That's about it.

Friendly staff. Hotel needs to be updated. No shower gel in shower pump. Elevator was out of order for extended time with no warning on the floors.

The property is nice.. appears to have had a recent update to the rooms, however the elevator is dated by at least 25 years. Small, slow and unsafe sounding. No real issue with the room except the phone was broken but I don’t use hotel phones anyway, it did prevent me from calling the lobby. Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly. My primary issue is that we were charged incidentals assuming we would use the hotel’s partnership with the adjacent parking deck. We never said that. Incidentals was $100. When I saw that on the bill BEFORE I had even used the deck. But also realized street parking was free during the times we would be at the hotel as well as the deck they use is cheaper than the $20 the hotel charges per day. I asked for that charge to be removed because I wasn’t going to use it. They agreed lowering it to $60. However they did another authorization for $60 so now I have $160 tied up. Well the $60 fell off in about 4 days after check out. The $100 took a full month 4 weeks. Multiple calls to the hotel whereby they said an error on their end prevented them from closing the room out until a week later which didn’t make sense because the $60 was removed. No way you get a good review from me when you play with my money. Luckily I didn’t need it but I don’t have time to check everyday to see if I’ve been cheated because you don’t trust ME which is why they even charged an incidental

There was a roach in my room soon as I checked in and hair was in the bed. This is dirty and not at all what I expected of a Marriott hotel. I am not able to sleep in the bed now because of the hair and can’t get a refund. Very disappointed.

Outside of hotel smelled like weed

The stay was okay. Need some upgrades. Not a good breakfast, really need some improvement. The staff was very helpful, nice and friendly, they made you feel welcome, but it will not be a choice again to stay at this hotel.

First and foremost, I have to acknowledge that all employees were amazingly nice and helpful. There was one particular employee by the name of Richard who just went above and beyond. Anything we needed, he was on it. Always had a smile, and a great laugh that was infectious! The hotel itself is nice, lobby clean, room had some carpet spills that looked like they were not touched. Location of our room was a busy street view and was kind of noisy. We literally heard everything. Cars, people, horns…it was pretty loud. Maid service lacked, room was cleaned once during our 6 day stay. Had to ask for towels everyday. Breakfast was good, staff replenished food quickly and kept the area very clean and tidy. I would stay here again however, choose the location of my room.
