The place was beautiful, so much greenery and such a spacious, lush area. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Dennis was amazing and made efforts to help us with what we needed! Breakfast at the cafe was great at the Evergreen. The food at One Fishing Place Floating restaurant was decent, but wasn’t too appetizing. However, I would say the staff made the stay memorable. Will definitely come back!

Your Travel Guide to Tagaytay, Cavite as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Tagaytay from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from Manila and other major Philippine cities, reaching Tagaytay is quite accessible. The most common method for those flying in is to book a book flight to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City. From NAIA, you can take a taxi or a pre-booked car service to the various bus terminals in Pasay or Cubao.

From these terminals, numerous bus companies operate routes to Tagaytay City. Buses typically depart every hour. The journey from Manila to Tagaytay usually takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending heavily on traffic conditions, especially during peak hours or weekends. Bus fares generally range from PHP 150 to PHP 250, offering a budget-friendly option for many travelers.

If you prefer to drive, Tagaytay is accessible via the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and then the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR Tollway) or directly via the Silang-Tagaytay Road. The drive from Metro Manila typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. Toll fees can vary but expect to pay approximately PHP 300 to PHP 500 for a round trip, depending on your starting point and the specific route taken.

Best Time to Visit Tagaytay

Tagaytay's cool climate makes it a popular destination year-round, but the best time to visit for most Filipino travelers is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity and comfortable temperatures, perfect for outdoor activities and sightseeing. This period generally sees higher tourist numbers.

The months from May to October constitute the wet season. While you might encounter occasional rain showers, these are often brief and followed by sunshine. Visiting during the wet season can offer a different charm, with lush greenery and fewer crowds, potentially leading to more affordable accommodation and flight options. However, it's wise to pack an umbrella and be prepared for possible travel disruptions due to heavy rainfall.

Food and Dining Near Tagaytay — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Tagaytay is renowned for its culinary scene, offering a delightful array of dishes that showcase local flavors. A must-try is Bulalo, a hearty beef soup made with beef shanks and bone marrow, slow-cooked until tender. Its rich, savory broth is perfect for Tagaytay's cool weather. Many restaurants along the highway offer excellent versions of this classic dish.

Another local favorite is Sinigang na Baboy or Sinigang na Baka, a sour and savory soup, typically made with tamarind broth. The tartness of the broth, combined with tender meat and fresh vegetables like kangkong and radish, makes it a comforting and flavorful meal. It's a staple in Filipino households and a popular choice in Tagaytay eateries.

For those with a sweet tooth, Tagaytay offers delicious local delicacies. Try Buko Pie, a sweet young coconut pie with a creamy filling and a flaky crust. It's a perfect pasalubong (souvenir) to bring home. You can find freshly baked Buko Pies in numerous bakeries and roadside stalls throughout Tagaytay.

Don't forget to sample the local strawberries, often found in fresh fruit stands and cafes. You can enjoy them fresh, in milkshakes, or as part of desserts like strawberry shortcake or strawberry ice cream. Many farms also offer strawberry picking experiences during the season, adding a fun, interactive element to your culinary exploration.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Tagaytay

Filipino culture is generally warm and hospitable, and Tagaytay is no exception. Visitors are encouraged to be respectful of local customs, particularly when visiting religious sites like chapels. Dressing modestly when entering churches is appreciated. Always greet locals with a smile and a polite "Magandang araw" (Good day).

When it comes to safety, Tagaytay is considered a relatively safe destination for tourists. However, it's always wise to exercise standard precautions. Keep your valuables secure, be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, and avoid walking alone in poorly lit places late at night. For emergencies, the local police hotline is typically 911.

For seamless travel, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is indispensable for getting around Tagaytay and finding your way to various attractions and restaurants. Ride-hailing apps can also be useful for booking transportation if you don't have your own vehicle.

Additionally, having the Traveloka app on your phone is highly recommended. It allows you to easily search for and book accommodations, flights, and activities, all in one place. This can be particularly helpful for last-minute bookings or for discovering new places to explore during your trip.

The staff was amazing and very helpful. We had an issue with noise coming from the highway our first night. We were able to upgrade to a two bedroom room in the crystal tower which was much nicer. We also found that the food at the main restaurant was not to our liking.

Staff were great! Cable is not that good, busted tv remote control, no tissue being offered, they forgot to resupply toilet paper and the real downer is lack of hot shower. Customer service is outstanding though. Kudos to staff friendliness and professinalisn!

It's not worth the price. Hotel is old needs more clening and renovation, It's also noisy you can hear people from outside. the wave pool water is dirty, I feel itchy after a long time in the pool water. The shower water is weak it will take long time to shower. Zip line, sauna etc a lot are under maintenance and only 1 restaurant is open.

To the eyes the property was pretty. There were very limited options as far as dining and the breakfast was nearly non existent. The spa was only able to offer partial services and partial recreational activities were available. I wish they would of mentioned these short comings on the web site prior to us booking.

We stayed during the Holy Week in the Philippines. It’s not my first time in the property so I recommended it to the family and since the wave pool is already operating, I thought of that it would be fun together with my baby. To cut the story short the housekeepers stole my phone in the room. They didn’t have the signage for do not disturb and request for clean up. So I assumed that they will not do a clean up unless you request the front desk. I left my Samsung phone on the table not expecting that they will clean up. I also left my bag with cash and good thing that these boys didn’t touch it. Normally if we check in I keep all the valuable stuff in the luggage and lock it, they didn’t have a vault. Because of course that is a temptation to whoever will clean it up. We reported in the management and the security and saw in the CCTV the guys who cleaner it up from 1057H to 1104H, clean up for 9 minutes done by 2 people. They didn’t even replace the toiletries and the coffe cup used was still there. Probably they were planning on how to escape and get the phone. And it wasn’t lunch time yet after going out from our room Cabin 2017 they went to the stock room and stayed for 15min. So what did they do..... we arrived at 1309h and saw them to the next room to us. So then the investigation started. And of course as usual they didn’t state in their affidavit that they stole it. It’s just a phone and probably the worth isn’t too much. But it isn’t about it. It’s the integrity

The resort was very outdated. We were given a room that was not worth it for the price that we paid for. The toilet and bathroom sink was broken, was told that somebody will fix it, we waited for 3 hours then nobody came to fix it. The manager moved us to a different room, but still furnitures were broken. The beds were not safe to sleep with, the frames were not as good as it should be on a resort like this. Also, their floating restaurant that offers supposed to be fresh fish, it was so awful, there was so little water around it, a lot of mosquitoes because the water was already dirty and smelly. Overall, it was really a bad experience! Not worth it for the price you will pay!

Our stay in Chateau Royale is not so good. It took more than 40 minutes waiting for us to be checked-in as the room was still being cleaned. When we enter the skyline building, it smell like an old place and upon entering the room, it was dusty. There was no towel and toilet paper. Unable to bear the smell of the room, we bought deodorizer and sprayed it all over the two bedroom unit.

The staff was amazing and very helpful. We had an issue with noise coming from the highway our first night. We were able to upgrade to a two bedroom room in the crystal tower which was much nicer. We also found that the food at the main restaurant was not to our liking.
