ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge - Royal Mile

Great location. We could walk to everything including the castle and Johnny walker experience. The property is a bit dated and rooms are small but functional. Good for a budget hotel that checks the boxes but don’t expect luxuries.

Unfortunately, our stay was not the worth money we spent on this for just one night (£300+). - The view from the bedroom window was straight on to a brick way, which made the room feel claustrophobic. - The bathroom sink was blocked, meaning the water wouldn’t drain away and causing a slight smell in the room. - The route from reception to our room went through the bar and restaurant, which was not pleasant for us moving with our bags or those who were dining there. - The breakfast was inadequate with very little selection - no fried eggs, no black pudding, no fried tomatoes, no potato scone - and the items that were offered were poor quality. - The noise on the street and within the hotel went on throughout the night until 6am, disrupting our sleep. We will not be back and will not recommend this hotel to others.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Max who checked us in was very polite and explained everything about the services in the hotel.

The hotel room provided exactly what was promised on the website, a clean, well equipped space that gave us a comfy retreat from the rigours of the fringe. It's excellently placed, never more than twenty minutes walk from most venues, and despite being in the heart of Fringeland it was quiet and peaceful inside. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful, doing everything they could to make the stay go well.

The room was smaller than we have had in the past.

Great location nice view from room during festival. Room was a little small for two of us. Bed vert comfortable. Service in the bar was nothing to right home about. Understaffed there. Overall we would stay there again.

Solid property and was very close to Royal mile

Hotel was okay.

Location was busy but central. Reception staff very good but some hospitality staff not as helpful. No hand towels and room not made up until between 4 and 6pm unless you ask.

Breakfast was excellent with many choices and bed was comfortable Very expensive for the size of the room.

Great proximity to visiting sites.

Hotel location was great and the room was comfortable and clean. Area was crowded due to Fringe festival but I was able to check in quickly and receive any needed info. from staff. Dining area was large and had a space to sit caually with a view out into the street.

The hotel itself was fine and the location was excellent as it was just round the corner from the Royal Mile however it was certainly scruffy and pretty dirty round the general area and very noisy.

The breakfast was interesting where the provided traditional Scottish dishes like black pudding and Haggis. With a lot of other options. The staff was friendly and informative. The location was good and walkable to most of the historic sites. What put me in an excellent mood, on arrival we were struggling with heavy suit cases up a very long flight of stairs (seems to be at least 80 stairs) and a group of younger folks came by, they just grabbed our bags and carried them to the top of the stairs. They did not wait for thanks but we were extremely grateful. It was the most welcoming event I have experienced anywhere. Don't know if all Scotts are that generous with assistance but that instance of compassion will be remembered forever.

Overall it’s good

Nice hotel. Food in restaurant is good and decent selection. Bed was comfortable but could use a couple more pillows. Washroom was ok, but could use hand towels and face cloths. Overall good value for the money and quite comfortable. There was no fridge in the room, but the bar was quite happy to give a large wine cooler bucket filled with ice to keep your drinks cold. There’s a Sainsbury almost right next door where you can purchase just about anything you want to eat or drink. Overall. We would stay there again.
