Highfield Private Hotel

Look, it is only a 1 star hotel and so expectations need to remember that. The pub patrons next door like to sing so ear-plugs are essential. For my purpose, a room to sleep in and no more, it was great. Clean, comfortable bed and close to food. Bathroom clean, hang everything on the high hooks, everywhere else gets wet including the door. If I need to stay in central Sydney again I'll use the Highfield again.

Clean and convenient. A bit dated though.

Property was as expected. No highs, no lows. Clean, tidy, friendly. Was only there to sleep. Good price.

Old hotel with some charm and good service when the owner is in attendance. Was given a free upgrade which was greatly appreciated... but unfortunately the property has roaches. Saw one in each of the rooms I stayed in. If the roaches are cleared up, I would stay again.

Good location in buzzing part of Sydney - walking distance from both the Allianz stadium and the bridge/opera house area. Expensive for size of room but you’re paying for it being Sydney. Very small room - no space even for a seat and only one pillow for 2 people staying. Parking A$25 extra - but that’s for a full 24 hours. Could see Syndney Harbour Bridge from the car park (opposite the hotel). Only view from our room was of a brick wall. No (working) lift.

Good vibe street... Accommodation is dated...

A friendly greeting. Offers of assistance and a feeling of homeliness. A well equipped kitchen where you may sit and have food or interaction with other travellers. Bright and very easy to get to.

I stayed in the hotel for one night as it was convenient for getting to the airport. The hotel is in a busy area and there are lots of shops nearby. I had to check in late and the staff were very helpful in giving me the access codes. There were a couple of issues that spoiled the stay: 1) The room had a fridge that emitted the most horrible noise every few minutes. I don't think any normal functioning fridge would make that sound, 2) I could hear other guests talking in the corridor in the middle of the night. It was a bit inconsiderate and I didn't get good sleep.

Could do with some hooks on en suite bathrooms and bedrooms to hang towels. Otherwise excellent with a kitchen for cooking .

Room was too hot, a fan is not AC. I believe the washroom in the 2nd floor wasn't maintained for 3 days, because for the last 2 days of my stay, we had no toilet paper or paper towel. It was my understanding the 2nd floor was for females only, but there was at least 3 men staying on this floor.

Great location, very clean and helpful staff

Bit noisy as discovered it was more a backpackers/travellers establishment. Can't recall it being advertised as that but possibly missed it!!

It was an ideal location close to transport to the locations I wanted to visit. It had all that I required in terms of the room at a price I could afford.
