The manager (owner?) was lovely and gracious when we arrived. The hotel room met our needs and was comfortable. We enjoyed the antiques and old photos reflecting the age of the building. Breakfast was good with excellent service.

Unser Zimmer hat eine Gaube und war dadurch nicht vollständig zu verdunkeln; das 2. Fenster ( Velux)hat ein Verdunklungsrollo)

Ascot House is lovely and walkable to the heart of York. The breakfast is abundant and convenient, and the beds are comfortable. However, the room was cramped for a family of four, as there was little space for luggage or to put things.

It is a nice old family owned/run place. The extreme heat doesn't help in an old brick building. But i was never told about construction and put on the top floor/attic is tough. Breakfast was very good, flexible in a lovely period piece location.
The street is noisy with buses and no AC. The top floor is very difficult (steep and narrow) so take note.
