Gainsborough Lodge

It was a place to stay the night before my flight from Gatwick. It is very convenient, a short walk from train station. The bus to the Airport is a 2 minute walk away and runs regularly

As soon as we opened the front door we were shocked by the terrible smell. Our room thankfully had windows so we aired it out for two hours while we were out for supper. The room itself was very nicely renovated and spacious and the bed was comfortable. The bathtub/shower was slippery though and there weren’t grab bars. There was no fridge or microwave and when I asked for ice he said they don’t do that. I could walk to Lidl for that. There was no air conditioner and no screens on the windows. It would be terrible to stay there when the temps are above 20c and when the mosquitos would be a factor. I would check around. The area itself is great for an overnight flying through Gatwick as there are lots of dining options within walking distance.

Stayed in a beautiful triple room with shower and toilet. Very comfortable, excellent location and simple self service check in. Have stayed twice now.

Got there at midnight after a long haul flight. No one was there to man the reception but the instructions sent by email multiple times prior to my arrival were clear. I get to my room and I see that the door is ajar… at that time of the night, with no staff around and as a solo female traveller you can imagine how scared I felt. But I had no choice. So I left my stuff in the corridor. Open the door and turned on the light. Looked from outside if I could see anyone or anything looking amiss. I stuck the door open with a chair and went in to investigate further. I then tried to open the bathroom door. It wouldn’t open so I was scared someone was locked in there. I insisted and managed to open it, checked it thoroughly but luckily it was empty. I got my stuff in and noticed the main door closed with difficulty because of the carpet. But that’s something that you should know as the staff and be mindful of. Room no. 3 if you’re wondering. I then got ready for bed. There were stains on the sheets and pillowcase. I left at 6am the next day so I emailed to let them know of this terrible experience and got no answer. Would not recommend.

It’s just a cheap room before or after catching a flight. Cheap is key on this property.

Very nice and easy place. Beds comfy and it was warm. Would definitely book again.

Pretty good. Very bright exit lights in room made it difficult to sleep. Otherwise, great service and comfortable.

A very good location for Gatwick Airport. Lots of amenities nearby. My only issue was no plug in the sink and the shower holder broken.

Easy check in/out, no frills but clean and perfect for our visit to relatives.
