Really enjoyed our 2 night stay here. Excellent value and great facilities. Enjoyed swimming and sauna and steam facilities. Good breakfast and lovely grounds to walk around if you want to.

We chose Haughton hall as it had good proximity to a family member who lived nearby. The staff were very good and personable. Our room was refreshed nicely every day and when it got hot in the afternoons the heavy drapes soon helped cool the room. Given the age of the property it is in very good shape, at least as good as it was 50 years ago when I went there as a child for school swimming lessons, (it was a school for soecial needs children back then). The pool has been significantly improved since then. I was unable to walk to the huge lake on the property as the undergroth had overgrown the path to the lake but it has been a wet summer and undergrowth grows fast.
I will hopefully returning in a couple of years to stay again.

Receptionist boardering on rude when checking in- no details given for anything other than breakfast time. We had to ask about gym/pool/towels/location of breakfast room etc- felt we were an inconvenience
Sash window in bathroom did not work with a large hole in woodwork & glass loose
Mould around tiles in shower area of bath
Temperature control on shower loose so unable to control temperature correctly
Dirty seal at base of shower door
Curtain hanging off pole in bedroom
No chefs available at lunchtime - This was not advised at check in.
Inside of all sash windows extremely dirty
Overall appearance of building inside & out dirty & not maintained at all.

Very disappointed, will not be stayng again. The hotel is in desperate need of a lot of tlc. Everywhere looked tired & extremely dated. My room (20) the four poster bedroom was very dated, dirty, hadn't been cleaned properly for a long time. Dirty tissues behind the bed, bottle tops on the floor, layer of dust around the skirting boards. No room service, the towels werent replaced, no one attended the room. When i pulled the plug out of the bath the water took ages to drain away, the bathroom and bedroom stank of sewage. The pool again was dirty, the showers didnt work properly and the changong rooms were dark, the light bulbs needed replacing.

The hotel requires huge investment.
My room had black mold and large damp patches on the walls. The bathroom window frame was broken and had a hole in it allowing the rain and wind to blow through. The food was expensive, service slow and was of poor quality.
The shower was either cold or extremely hot, hence I burnt my back in the shower.
On check out, waited 15 mins and no staff showed up.
Will never stay in this poor excuse of an hotel again. It’s disgusting!

Lovely hotel in its heyday! So sad to see it rather run down. The staff are excellent and probably spend a fair bit of time apologising for the things that are not working or not available. Come on owners help your staff!

Unfortunately stayed here for daughters wedding arrived late in night room 30 no heating on freezing cold bed felt damp the next day tryed using shower Unfortunately shower was faulty as only boiling water came out couldn't have shower unless i got burned and went to a and e aswell reported it staff didn't do anything except say sorry or offer any help to solve problems and tbf not cheap to stay there so Unfortunately first time there never again beware

Tired hotel with a faint smell of I don’t know what permeating the whole hotel. Mattress was very cheap and very uncomfortable. Shower head was broken so had to hold shower hose while showering. All in all, not a place I would book in the future.

Flaking faint on exterior and interior walls. Boarded up windows, signs of damp on bedroom walls. Oh, and I had also found broken glass on my bedroom carpet!
Never written a review before, however this time I thought it was necessary….. Grim!
