Everything was excellent. Entertainment needs improvement. They need to have more activities/parties/shows

Beautiful property!! The pool on the music bar side needs more entertainment during the day/weekend. The buffet had wonderful options throughout the day. The spa was very relaxing and love the onsite availability to book excursions rather than being approached at the beach like other resorts. Overall my experience was one to remember! Thank you

Love the place. It was a very clean and serene atmosphere. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely return some time in the future.

The property itself is very nice. However, I didn’t like that they don’t have pool food service they only have 4 restaurants for that enormous hotel. I don’t like that the service in the pool even though the people were nice they didn’t make rounds to get drinks often. They took a Very long time, no less than 45 to one hour rounds. Plus the sargasso on the beach was very smelly and you couldn’t swim In the beach area.

We have been to several all inclusive resorts. This resort was clean, well maintained and well staffed. The negatives are it's huge over 800 rms and a mile long from the Riviera resort to the Palace resort. Ok so really big, they have a cool dbl decker bus but it was running every 30 min when we we're there, it was faster to walk. As far as check in we emailed 2 wks prior that we would be checking in early and wanted to check in early. All other emails answered about the salon, photographer and events, yet radio silent when we asked for an early checkin. We were told our room would be ready at 3 😕. We walked down to the room we were told we were getting, it was ready, per cleaning staff. Went back to the front desk, notified them and were questioned then they called the cleaning staff verified and were allowed to check in at 1:30ish. Waited several hrs which is why we decided to check ourselves. We also noted multiple times it was our anniversary. 0 recognition, nothing special was done. We got strawberries for visiting the resort?!? The food was meh.... Lots of choices, he steaks grilled to order was a pleasant surprise. Food was not well seasoned. The reservation restaurants were great though. I sat outside several times in the morning for breakfast and had to ask for water, silverware and salt/pepper, basically someone to wait on me. Overall the resort is clean, lots of seating, lots of staff, snorkeling is OK and yes the ladder off the dock is tretchorious, very slanted

Property was very nice. Staff were all great! The food at the restaurants were all good. I think the breakfast and lunch options could be better.

The night show

Out of all the resorts ive stayed at, this was my least favorite. Check in process wasnt great. They said our room would be ready in 1 hr, (it was 1pm, check in is 3pm). I went at 2:45 and it wasnt ready. They ended up changing my room and giving me a room further inside the resort. Lost out on a full ocean view and increased my walk to the restaurants and music pool. Room service is only free for premium members. Buffet only serves breakfast and lunch, have to go to another resort for dinner buffet. All other restaurants were dinner options and by reservations only. Food was not good. Not much variety and bland foods. Only enjoyed the fruits and coffee. Drinks were watered down. Even though there were so many worker's, service was slow, like very slow. Sometimes they would forget to bring our orders. I would leave a tip hoping for better service, but no change. The music pool only played music till 6pm, pool bars closed at 7 and pool closed at 8. I didnt give the ambiance of an all inclusive. I feel like this place is more for retired people, who people who want simple food and just chill and tan by the pool. It was a little too boring. The free snorkeling you couldnt see anything, and the ladder into the water was horrible, my wife got hurt. You have to pay to use the jetski and banana boat. I wish they had bikes or golf carts on the beach roads to get around the resorts. The shuttle bus comes every like 20 mins or so, but its all the way at the lobby. I will not be return

Nice resort - way bigger than I could have imagined. We did upgrade to premium which meant our rooms were far from lobby but quiet. LOTS OF WALKING! No nightly turn down even though it said we should get that feature, and 1 room had hot water problems for 1 day of our stay. Reservations- get them in when you get there! Lobby bars including Premium were not ready @ 7am for coffee or the buffets there were not ready (7am) when we expected them to be. Also, premium liquor was not flowing for us, we had to ask - and sometimes it seemed like the bartender did not want to pour what we asked for. Overall nice stay, but I am "Secrets spoiled" ( if you've ever stayed at secrets, you will know what I mean) so take that into consideration. Food was 3.5/5 for buffet, and 4 course dinners 4.5/5. Waiters always very nice and helpful. Did not see a lot of people tipping, but we like to tip at AI so that did not deter us. They try really hard to keep the resort clean, but seaweed was abundant. Not sure they could do much more. Drink service on beach would be a nice addition.

Overall the resort is very esthetic, modern, chic. As well as the rooms. However, I vacationed with a large group and more than a few of our rooms smelled badly, like mold.

4 or 5 resorts on the same complex, we stayed at the maya riviera adults only which was very nice and quiet. The other adjacent resorts were kid friendly. Shuttle bus pick up every 25 mins to take you to the other resorts.The room was very large with a beautiful ocean view and hot tub on the balcony. The buffet was good with various selections but they close at 6pm, but there were 4 restaurants with reservations. The pool area was large and water nice. Scenery was very beautiful and staff were friendly and helpful. Stayed during the week which was not too crowded. would go again.

Excelente porpiedad muy bien cuidada higiene impecable. Servicios de restaurantes y bufett de 100, servicio y calidad increible. Solo si señalar, el servicio de recepción, muy bajo, parece no tienen.que ver con ese hotel, deberian mejorar la calidad del servicio, amabilidad y cordialidad todos en recepción aparte de lentos, parecen estar bravos o cansados. Todo lo contrario del resto de las areas del hotel. Por el resto super recomendable.

Excelente estadía, excelente complejo y atenciones. Lo único malo era el sargazo de la playa y ese mal olor que expide el mismo, cosa que no tiene nada que ver con el hotel en sí, pero que no nos permitió hacer uso de la playa. Pero el Caribe Mexicano es una buena idea y opción.

Barcelo Maya Riviera resort is fabulous!!! Beautiful pools, beautiful lobby, beautiful beaches, friendly staff, nice rooms, good food. Will definitely go here again!
