Stay away from this place. Service is non existent and never answers phone calls. It’s not at all worth it

Room was clean. Carpet in room lots of damage. Hotel old and not looked after. No staff was present at check in or out

Centrally located and convenient. ROoms clean. Breakfast fine. Carpets worn but what one would expect for old hotel. Good value for money. Staff very friendly.

The room was basic but functional. For the price we paid it was perfectly acceptable. We were told at check in that we might have to let the hot water run for a while before it came out hot but we didn't experience any problems at all. The AC unit was exceptionally efficient and quiet. Wifi was a bit flaky in our room but fine everywhere else. It was great eating our evening meal out on the historic balcony at the front of the hotel. Breakfast was really just a bonus at this price point. It was a very basic continental style breakfast with bread and spreads and a few cereals with a geyser for hot water (t-bags and instant coffee). I really don't understand some of the negative reviews we saw online. It's a historic building so things will be different to a modern motel. If I was staying in Hay again I wouldn't hesitate to book this place. We had a great night's sleep and were fully refreshed for a long drive the next day.

The old pub balcony is a great place to relax but otherwise the place is getting a bit run down. Worn/torn/stained carpets and other obvious maintenance deficits.

The hotel and the room had a feeling about it. The window in the bedroom would not open. My wife felt very claustrophobic in the hotel and especially in the room. The receptionist told us we would be the only people in the building that night, this was not a comfortable feeling. As this was advertised as a hotel we expected it to have a bar and restaurant, it had neither. So, we cancelled the night and went to a motel in the town.

The room itself was good, bed comfortable and room clean. Bathroom clean though very small. Check in was by lock box which was convenient though the instructions to find our room were a little wrong. TV had sound only with no picture but fridge, microwave and kettle were very welcome. Good aircon Breakfast was supplied but bread had some mould on it and milk was out of date.

Nice enough for one night staff were great.

Bathroom was smelly.

Rooms are too old, dirt and it’s not receiving maintenance at all. Bathroom disgusting.

Parking was close and accessible, check in via the lock box was straight forward. Disappointed that breakfast didn’t open until 8am so we missed it. The TV wasn’t connected to the internet so couldn’t watch it and the room was a lot smaller than the photos indicated but the shower was great and the beds were comfortable

There was enough coffee, tea and milk and that was really great. The room was relatively clean and neat, but could have done with a little table on the right or an extension to the existing table, as it would then be easier to use the toaster and electric kettle. Parking was fine, but unsure if it is safe to leave our GPS in the car, as it is a public space. We would have appreciated some cutlery, e.g. forks, knives and tablespoons. There was just one teaspoon. We did not meet any of the staff except for three people we met along the way. The two young people seemed quite pleasant and friendly. Note: good to check the dust inside the enclosed toaster/kettle section as it was somewhat dusty. Great place for short-term stay, for shopping in the town area, and we met some very friendly and helpful people along the way. Lots of interesting shops along our route. One kindly lady informed us that cars had to be parked 'nose-front', as otherwise we would be warned by the Police.

Whilst the room was clean, we had to leave our classic car out on the main road. No one was at the desk to ask about secure parking. The key was left in a box out the back, in envelopes with names on them: honesty of people booking was relied upon, even with a code sent to each person booking. Shower water pressure could have been better.
