Staff at the front desk very helpful, would stay again

All you need for a short stay.

Room not clean and very dirty, not given room paid for and amenities they advertise weren't available

Have stayed at 9 -10 hotels / motels during rhis 3 weeks visit of Brirish Columbia and this Howaes Jhonson was undoubtedly the worst among all. Stayed here twice and both times it was disappointing. The dirst room had bad smell of smoking that other travellers have mentioned also. The second room had no hot water. Left the shower open for 10 minutes but no signs of hot water. If one of the breakfast item is finished, you ll have to fo to the reception ans ask them to refill that whixh they would but with a face that you ll regret asking for that. I have been a Hulton Diamond and an IHG Diamond for several years and have tried hundreds of hotels and trust me if I have to mark the list of worst ten ( among chain hotels) this one will find a place in the list on top .

The beds were basically springs and too soft .

The property’s location was good, but unfortunately the hotel room was not clean and had a bad smell. The carpet seemed to have an unpleasant odor, which made the entire room smell. The bedding also did not feel clean and smelled bad. Overall, the room was not comfortable, and I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

Beds were clean and comfy.

The room was very very dated and stained. The carpet was gross, and the towels and sheets where stained. But they had been washed. There was a sign in the 'lobby' saying the hotel was in partnership with Howard Johnson. In reality it was a very old dated motel. On the plus side, the beds where comfortable

Rooms are too small and hot during warm days. There was cigar smell and it was really humid inside. The bathroom is separated in 2 different rooms which is unconventional. Would not book again

Location is good in most ways but has an ambience of unsafe due to near downtown that has sketchy people passing by or around the vicinity. Camera around the hotel kinda ease the anxiousness. Near to most amenities needed. Hospital is just 3 blocks away. The hotel outside appearance is outdated and looks like a run down structure. The room was renovated poorly and badly maintained cleanliness. The mattress that we sleep on is good and has small patchy of stain. No signs of bugs....thanks goodness. 3 out of the4 pillows were disgusting. These pillows were like been used and peed on and really morbidly dirty. They were covered by a clean zippered pillow case to hide the pillows condition, then covered by 3 to four pillows cases 😱. The floor was not vacuumed and mop. The floor is dirty, I have to go to reception to borrow a broom to clean it myself. Staff never offered to clean up the room 😳. The base and trunk of the toilet bowl has dried urine flows on it, visibly. The toilet tissue the supposedly spare was dirty. I went to receptionand requested to get the 3 disgusting pillow to be change, handed the spare dirty tissue roll and requested a broom to clean up the room myself, kinda odd me cleaning room. Second day of stay, I requested to get our room cleaned and have the bed linens stripped off because linen has marks of stains on it. Good thing the room smells okay. Staff was accommodating. Breakfast was not really enticing. Bagel was rock solid. Vigilance when checking in.
