Howard Johnson by Wyndham Downtown Kamloops

Breakfast was not what was pictured, there were no boiled eggs and bagel was rock hard. Coffee tasted like dirt water and suite beside the road was super loud, walls are paper thin, beds are tiny with tiny pillows and thin bedding. Worst sleep of my life, better to pay more for a nice bed and thick walls

The bedding and the bathroom were clean. The room was very run down. There was a power bar with the microwave and lamp that would not stay on. We kept having to jiggle it to make it work. You could not plug in the coffee maker as it was too far from a plug in. The carpet was dirty and there was only one curtain panel that barely covered the window. I would not stay here again. The staff was friendly and willing to help though. But I guess it is the old adage you get what you pay for.

It is a very runned down place. I went to turn off the hot water on our sink n it moved n the hot water in the shower went really hot then super cold. They had no complimentary lotion or conditioner in the room. Just a bottle of shampoo in the shower. Walla cracked and I could hear the pple upstairs walk around as if they were in our room. Thank goodness we had a quiet gentlemen next to us. They did have the best choice of cereal for kids and no muffins! I have never had a complimentary breakfast n no muffins. The area also wasn't the best. Homeless people around. Ive stayed at other hotels of the same chain n have never had it this bad.

The word “Wyndham” made us think it’s a great place to stay for a night and of course, it’s located in Kamloops downtown but we are disappointed as the building is old and not well kept and maintained. It’s just a good place to sleep overnight and think that everything will be ok the next day. We had a complimentary breakfast though.

It was one of my worst experince staying at this lodge. Which hotel shuts the water off without giving a courtesy call? Let me guess no one. Very bad

No good property

Very run down property , half the rooms open to the back alley which was very noisy didn’t feel very comfortable staying there

Accommodating staff, good breakfast, however room was not thoroughly cleaned.

The room was non smoking and reeked of smoke The chest of drawers was filthy Water was dripping out of the roof into the breakfast area. The hotel was a disgrace. This hotel was disgusting

The room was okay good for the price. The location is the best part. Walking distance to everything amd downtown.

Everything was good. You get what you pay for. Great for a one night rest from the road.

Rooms need updating, Fire Alarm was six years expired in my room, bedding was all stained and I could barely open and close the door into my room - needs work. Lots of garbage outback by my room.

Very clean and comfortable

This hotel shouldn’t even be offered on Expedia. Our room smelled of weed and there were lots of transient people around/staying there. The staff are very friendly and considerate. We ended up leaving as I was with my son and wasn’t comfortable staying. Thankfully the staff understood and were gracious to offer me a refund.

Hotel was quite disappointing. Very run down and did not feel safe with people loitering in alley at back. Woman at front desk was helpful.

I am honestly shocked that Wyndham allows the Howard Johnson name to remain attached to this property. I checked in late last night without reading reviews beforehand because I assumed a Howard Johnson by Wyndham would at least meet a minimum standard of cleanliness, maintenance, and safety. That assumption was completely wrong. The first room we were assigned reeked so badly of cigarette smoke that we immediately had to request another room. The second room smelled nearly identical, except now mixed with what genuinely smells like mold and mildew. The condition of the room is appalling — holes in the walls, dirt and grime throughout, stains and filth on surfaces, and even what appeared to be blood on the floor. To make matters worse, the key card reader for the room does not even function properly. The front desk attendant had to use a master key to let us in and then informed us that if we left the room we likely would not be able to get back in. So effectively, once inside, you feel trapped. After reading reviews afterward, it became clear this is not an isolated experience. There are countless complaints mentioning smoke-filled rooms, mold, bugs, broken locks, stained bedding, unsafe conditions, drug activity around the property, and rooms that appear completely neglected. The consistency of these complaints over time is honestly unbelievable. This property is not just “dated.” It is run down, poorly maintained, and unsanitary.

Could be cleaner. Took a while for hot water but it did come i did start in the cold thinking it wasn’t coming. Pretty dated Dark and quiet. Was good for sleeping.

Staff were nice

The neighbourhood isn't great. Friendly staff, fair price, pet friendly. Linens and beds were nice. Everything I needed . Neal from Calgary
