Mt. Field offers a variety of walks in one of Tasmania’s oldest national parks. Most famous for Russell Falls and the Tall Trees Track, you can explore the great short walks within this diverse park, which is just a short 1.5-hour drive from Hobart. The Three Falls Circuit and Tall Trees Walk form a loop of the lower rainforest section of Mount Field National Park. The full circuit walk of 6 km over reasonably easy terrain covers the park highlights of Russell Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Lady Barron Falls, and the Tall Trees Track. You have the option and time to complete 1 waterfall, 2 waterfalls, or the whole circuit, depending on your sense of adventure for the day! You will enjoy your lunch break in one of the many beautiful picnic settings in the National Park. You then visit Bonorong Wildlife Park, which is home to many of the rescued and well-loved animals. Tassie devils are close up; wallabies are freely hopping around the park; and many more of the local favorites are easily discovered here. To top off this very Tasmanian day, you will head to the summit of Kunanyi (Mt. Wellington). Standing high above Hobart at 1271 m on a clear day is nothing short of spectacular. The views from the top are expansive. This is a fantastic way to wrap up a day exploring many of Tasmania’s most unique and noteworthy experiences, including rainforests, waterfalls, wildlife, and fabulous scenery.
