We stayed here a year ago, in the older (red) part of the hotel, which was lovely, so we returned for an anniversary date night. Our stay this time was decidedly average. Our room was in the refurbished (blue) section, the room size and decor was lovely but the aircon was not working and the room was southfacing, so was uncomfortably warm and stuffy. On reporting this to reception, we were told that the new rooms don't have aircon, only heating! We were offered ice and water, but with no fridge or way to keep it cool in the 35 degree heatwave, this was pointless. There are signs about being 'environmentally friendly' everywhere, but the single use wrapped soaps instead of pump handwash belie that target. The Sunday breakfast finishes at 10am, we arrived at 9.40 to be told that breakfast is removed at 10 so we need to ensure we are done. We were finished by 10 anyway (fast eaters), but there is no Sunday lie-in at this hotel if you want to eat... Our stay last year was lovely, drinks on the terrace and a walk into town. If you are staying, I recommend ensuring you have a red room in the summer and making sure breakfast is included!!

It’s a nice friendly old property

We had one of the refurbished rooms which we were thankful for, they have half renovated the hotel so far. We were very grateful for the fan they’d put in the room as it was hot. The room itself was nice and there was plenty of room. The curtains however did not cover the windows which did make the room lighter at night.

We booked 2 rooms at the hotel in January for a wedding at the end of May. At the time, phoned and spoke to Reception advising that we required an accessible room for a person in a wheelchair and the for another room near to it. We were told to book twin rooms and then contact the hotel again regarding an accessible room. Confusing messages were received when we were then advised that there were no accessible rooms as hotel was being renovated. We visited the hotel in February to see the layout and Reception confirmed that 2 rooms would be allocated close to each other. Prior to our arrival we sent a message for confirmation that the 2 rooms were available and close to each other. What a shock we got when we checked in and were given a room on the 1st floor and the other on the 3rd floor!! Reception advised that there were few twin rooms on each floor and only 1 left for us. We asked what other room was available close by and were told a double which we took. We discovered later that the room is cheaper than the twin rooms booked and paid for however no refund was offered or given. Shocking service especially considering we had a very elderly person, in a wheelchair travelling with us. No apologies were given. Due to the aircon not working there was a notice saying that we could get a complimentary bottle of water for each person so when we asked the Deputy Manager he said that we could buy them from the bar!!! What customer care is that?? Very disappointed.

Leider ist das Hotel insgesamt deutlich in die Jahre gekommen und entspricht aus unserer Sicht nicht mehr dem Preisniveau. In unserem Zimmer ließen sich einige Fenster nicht öffnen, was den Komfort spürbar beeinträchtigte. Das Badezimmer verfügte über eine relativ hohe Badewanne mit Duschmöglichkeit, was insbesondere für mobilitätseingeschränkte Gäste problematisch sein kann. Zudem fehlte eine Toilettenbürste. Beim Frühstück war die Kaffeemaschine außer Betrieb, und es wurde kein kurzfristiger Ersatz angeboten. Positiv hervorzuheben ist die bereits renovierte Bar, die modern und ansprechend gestaltet wurde. Insgesamt besteht jedoch ein erheblicher Renovierungsbedarf im restlichen Hotel. Solange keine umfassende Modernisierung erfolgt ist, würden wir das Hotel nicht erneut buchen. Das Verhältnis von Preis und Leistung empfinden wir in seinem aktuellen Zustand als nicht angemessen.

Great stay. Lovely staff

A good hotel, currently under going a refurbishment which is most needed as its dated. Only problem for us was the pillows they was on the hard side.

Lovely staff. One night heading to a party at the spitfire cricket ground. He gave us instructions to get there ready for when we came back down to reception.

The hotel and its decor is looking a bit tired, and expensive for what it is. The food in the Restaurant is good, but not very good value for money. The floorboards in the neighbouring bedroom squeaked, and our bedroom door rattled if you had the window open. The staff were very good. The breakfast was good, but I think the orange juice was watered down or was squash!

We only had a quick stay and no breakfast. Very late check in at 11pm, the staff were great, very friendly. Nice room very clean.

Friendly, helpful staff, immaculate room and comfortable bed. Also very good location to walk into Canterbury. The only small negative was limited tea, coffee, milk and no bottled water in the room but overall I would highly recommend.

Helt ok hotel, rent og ok frokost

We arrived on the hottest weekend of the year and our room had no AC. However, the staff had prepared the room the best they could, a fan, curtain closed etc. and it was fine. We were in the refurbished side and the room was lovely, clean and modern. The breakfast buffet wasn’t great - limited continental and low quality hot items. Staff were friendly and efficint. I would recommend this hotel for its lovely room, parking and close to town.

Great convenient stay.

Stedet ligger 15 minutter fra centrum, men har gratis parkering, hvilket er positivt i engelske byer. Ingen aircondition trækker ned under en meget varm sommerdag.

The staff were lovely, the room e Was so comfortable and the bathroom was bigger than our kitchen. The breakfast in the morning was perfect with a big range to choose from and even the parking was free.

This hotel is under refurbishment which was not highlighted at the time of making the booking The staff were amazing however the passable with no air conditioning. Close to city centre outside areas need some maintenance but it is a welcome space to sit and relax My room was on the 3rd floor and was spacious. Please be aware that rooms are not serviced daily (they say it is because they want to be greener - however no clean towels or replenished tea and coffee what not what I was expecting for the price charged). Parking is a premium as -they is plenty of space included with your booking. In summary this property needs a bit of work for the price they charge per stay
