Arrived at the hotel to find the description and pictures were not as described within the advert for the hotel. The was cars blocking the entrance to the hotel,the decor and cleanliness was awful throughout the hotel and the room. We had no towels in our room and we had until midnight before they come out of the tumble dryer. As advertised there was no hairdryer. Overall it spoiled our weekend away as we had a limited budget and was unable to book alternative accommodation. We would like to request a full or partial refund.

No parking when I got there and not a big car park anyway, room was dirty with hair left in the shower, bed was lumpy and creaked everytime I l moved. Also wasn't made aware that there was a function on until I checked in which was noisy up until midnight.

Nice old style hotel overlooking the sea. Friendly staff and room I stayed in was very spacious. Room although beautiful view looking out towards the sea and big bathroom and plenty of storage, there was a smell of stale smoke which wasn’t a major issue just didn’t smell fresh in the room! Hotel offers breakfast and there is a bar but the ‘Famous’ Fish and Chips restaurant has long gone. Less than 5 mins walk to pier and other restaurants. Being an old hotel noisy upstairs above room when people walking about however you in a hotel so this is to be expected! Would recommend you check this hotel out as price very resonable for what you got and location.

The Hotel was not that clean no towels in room no washing bits like soap for your hands and paper towels in the toilets.

Great breakfast but they charged me adult price for children. Location is great, so close to the pier. The room didn’t look like it was cleaned properly, especially the bathroom.

Breakfast was £8 and poor quality. Property needs a deep clean. Really friendly staff. Right on the sea front.

Terrible state of the shower and bathroom No hot water

Despite friendly staff this hotel is in a poor state. The central heating didn’t work but there was a tiny oil filled radiator in the room. The shower pressure was barely enough today wet. There was no plug in the hand basin. The room smelt musty. The bedside lamp couldn’t work as there was no plug socket nearby etc

Nice and tidy place to spent holiday

Room had no central heating,only a oil fired radiator Bathroom underfloor heating only in middle of day, nowhere to put any items in bathroom and poor lighting and no drinking water for kettle. Plug sockets could only do kettle or radiator and no socket for lamp by bed. Very basic room,towels too small. Breakfast very good value

The man at reception was great but the accommodation was terrible: the e stayed in a room which looked like a coffin, found a bottle of something which looked like drugs, random coat hangers, so many drawers which contained screws, dirty shower which switched between hot and cold constantly…. The “sea view room” overlooked a flat roof and couldn’t view the sea… laundry was being done throughout the night which kept us awake.

Very quiet time of the year, we were the only ones for a huge wonderful breakfast. Room was a bit chilly the first night, but came okay after being "lived in". The room had an emergency light up high which meant the room was not completely dark. Bed, shower etc all good. Good location. We were very happy with our choice of accommodation on our return to Clacton after 37 years!! Recommend the Esplanade Hotel to everyone.

Shower was useless. bar service slow. staff we're friendly
