Hotel is in great location. Room was fine, clean and functional. Pillows were awful though, really thin and flimsy, had to use throw cushions behind them. Breakfast was average. I last stayed here about 8 years ago and remember breakfast being standout but this was not the same high standard. Car park / steps to hotel were frozen over from the moment I arrived due to wintry weather but it took about 24 hrs for them to put any grit down (during which time it snowed again and froze over again so was particularly slippery) - even when they did grit it was in odd places so trying to get to your car was very dicey!

Food lovely, in keeping with it being a restaurant with rooms not an hotel. Other than restaurant the facilities are limited. Staff friendly and helpful. Walk to town centre is up a steep hill so not for those with mobility issues.

Room was clean, we stayed in the lodge, so could park the car directly outside our room. Very dog friendly hotel, bar has a good selection of beers and wines,food was excellent. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Excellent breakfast. A brisk walk takes one into lovely historic town. The great Castle looks overhead.

Lovely hotel. 15 minute walk from centre of Ludlow, but be warned you have to go up a fairly steep hill to get there. Also the roads are very dark in the evening, but they’re quiet and safe so you only need to make sure you have a torch. Room very clean and bed comfortable. Views from windows were lovely. Breakfast really good. Only issue in the hotel was water pressure in the en suite was very low in the morning, probably when others were using their showers etc. while washing my hair the water dwindled to absolutely nothing, which wasn’t exactly convenient! Staff said they’ve never been told this before (we were in room 5) and checked the water pressure, even asking their plumber to look at it. All said it was fine, presumably when no one else was using their bathrooms. Well, I’m sorry but it wasn’t fine and it happened on 2 of the days we were in the room. Fortunately there was an alternative room, which they offered to us and we moved into. No problems in that room. Otherwise a great stay.

Very healthy good choices. Lots of great selection.Homemade jams etc.

Lovely staff, location and food

We booked very last minute for the food festival, it was priced very favourably considering it was a peak time. We thought the property was value for money, our room was as described, bit small but adequate. It had everything we needed inc. tea and coffee making facilities and lovely biscuits. Shower was good with touketries supplied. We had a problem with our toilet flush but this was sorted whilst we were out for the today so mo inconvenience to us. The building is old but fairly well maintained. Seating in the bar area is a little sparse which put us offnhavijg drinks as a group before we left to go out for dinner. I think this is by design as the property is described as a restaurant with rooms, however, personally I think a trick is being missed here as it could attract more people to remain in and dine. Overall a pleasant stay and we would return

We have stayed twice now at The Cliffe in order to break long journeys down south. The public areas are nice and the bedrooms and huge beds are fine, but the bathrooms in our rooms we’ve been in were small and fairly old. We were surprised that the last orders for dinner were at 7.45 but we got fed! It’s quite a long inclined walk up into the town itself but the quiet location and castle view are worth it.

Huge rooms ! Bath with shower over.2 chairs or sofa.Massive bed. Stairs up to 1st and 2nd floor are steep. No lift.only 12 bedrooms. Plenty of parking .Breakfast is excellent! Very clean great service. Short walk to castle but very steep!

Good food and pleasant staff

Good service, but overall very impersonal. Not once was there any interaction except basic necessities. Excellent dinner. Breakfast was good but portions very small. One slice of toast each and not asked if we wanted more or refills of tea and coffee.

Lovely comfy bed 🛏️

Nice room .tidy. limited welcome facilities eg coffee. Bath items. Situated in a nice setting with good parking and a short if hilly walk to town. After reading some previous reviews I was unsure re booking the eve meal. But am pleased to report it was Excellent. Staff attentive and food served timely. Have to apologise. Without my glasses I now realise l left gratuities in pence as opposed to pounds.!hate those machines!! no reflection on staff ,they were attntive and welcoming

Lovely place to stay, short (uphill) walk to Ludlow Castle. Amazing food, attentive staff, comfortable room.
