Fantastic hotel , rooms were big and very comfortable. Buffet breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and very tasty in all fairness. Plenty of pools so you're not stuck for beds or parasols which is not the case in a lot of hotels. We had a great time on the 'Abba night' we felt it was spot on and well worth the cost, the food was very tasty and the drinks kept flowing the staff didn't hold back fair play👌 My only word of warning is that you pay quite a lot of money to stay at the hotel so I was quite shocked when I realised they were applying a 10% service charge to drinks at the bar, drinks at the poolside and at the pub restaurant, this is something I've never encountered before in a hotel.I raised my issue at the reception desk only to be told I didn't have to pay it if I didn't want to and to tell the staff next time. 10% may not seem a lot but i would've liked to have been made aware there was an option to pay it or not.

Absolutely wonderful hotel!

The location was great but the room was very average. The bed wasn’t comfortable and the room temperature was HOT. There was also NO parking for the rental car

Fikk nyoppusset rom i 15. etasje - byutsikt. Supre badeområder, terrasser og vakker utsikt. Kort vei inn til byen. Hyggelig betjening og god service. Kommer gjerne tilbake.

We had a good stay at Carlton. Very nice stay at surroundings. Good location and also the beach area was fantastic. A place to go again.

Well presented Hotel, with lovely Pool Gardens and Public areas. Helpful and friendly staff. Great location, short walk into Funchal. Only negative was that the room was sometimes noisy, as there was an inter-connecting door, so we could hear the people in the next room. Would recommend.

If you’re never visiting madeira should give a trie wonderful hotel and staff

Don’t feel like it was 5 stars! We stay at one of the suites in the hotel. We could hear next door chatting and snoring! Not worth the money. Breakfast wasn’t great. The customer service via phone was slow when we try to communicate when next door was being nosy no one pick up the phone. Also the hotel doesn’t have any quiet time during night. When we arrived no water was in the room. So the best arrival was not a good impression

Our room was a little more dated than we expected from the pictures, and we weren't expecting to be right on the level of the main pool. But the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and we loved the variety of pools and proximity to the ocean.

Closed access to Spa and bar too early

Needs a refurbishment in public areas as looking a bit tired. But room spotless and a good size, breakfast good, and staff response to a minor problem was outstanding.

The hotel is in a great location, with a walkable area and a lot of restaurants around it. We stayed in a room with pool view and were actually able to walk out the room and go straight to the pool. There also was an ocean view from our room, although we never got down to the beach. The staff was friendly and all the amenities were fine. Free parking was limited, especially since it was also being used by the locals.
