The hotel is absolutely incredible, especially if you arrives in Stonetown by ferry boat, because it is very close.
But much more than that, the hotel is nestled in a wonderful former palace , from when you have a wonderful sea view.
And the rooms??? What rooms !!!!

Mizingani Seafront Hotel is an atmospheric, character-filled heritage hotel in a wonderful Stone Town location. It is not a modern, polished resort-style property, and that is really part of its appeal. The charm is in the old-world Zanzibar feel: the carved timber, arched balconies, tiled details, sea views, inner courtyard and slightly labyrinthine layout of rooms, staircases and quiet corners.
The property has a real sense of place. You feel the history of Stone Town around you, while still being close to the waterfront, Forodhani Gardens, the ferry area and the main sights. The courtyard pool area is especially lovely — almost hidden away from the busy seafront — and gives the hotel a calm, intimate feel.
For travellers who enjoy atmosphere, heritage architecture and a property with genuine character rather than something sleek and generic, Mizingani is a memorable place to stay.

The staff were friendly and helpful. They provided information about resources available. Loved the old town feel. It reminds me of a Moroccan riad. Breakfast is good. The location is great. It’s close to the ferry. It has a nice rooftop to watch the sunset. It’s close to the airport.

This hotel is old and tired. The welcome was, at best, lukewarm, and the service was generally not good. The room was not well cleaned but there was good air conditioning, which was very welcome. Furniture was old and beds uncomfortable. The phone in the room did not work and other guests were allowed to yell at each other at 3am in the communal areas!
Breakfast offer was good.
Restaurant was awful - service was poor, food was almost inedible, card machine doesn’t work! They do not sell alcohol and don’t name this in their description. They do offer “mocktails” which are an absolute laugh! Don’t waste your money!
Swimming pool was nice but the chairs/sofas around the pool are very dirty.
Would not recommend it.

Das Hotel erinnert an ein Riad in Marakesch. Mal was anderes. Suite mit Meerblick ist schön. Bad mit Tür nach oben offen etwas unpraktisch weil man keine Privatsphäre hat. Einrichtung im Hotel echt schön und mal was anderes. Frühstück ist super. Viel Auswahl. Es gibt keinen Alkohol im Hotel. Pool schön aber keine Liegen. Strand ist nicht zum Sonnen geeignet da das Hotel direkt an einem Fährhafen liegt. Daher auch ziemlich laut. Lage aber zentral um alle Sehenswürdigkeiten gut zu Fuß zu sehen. Personal eher zurückhaltend aber hilfsbereit
