This is such an old building but filled with history and has had many "famous" people that have stayed there. You can literally walk off the train and walk out the door of the station and turn left, walk a few feet and be at the Royal Highlander. It might be cold there in the winter as the windows are the original ones! But the draperies are heavy....so maybe not. It was an interesting start to our trip.

Absolutely lovely hotel to stay in in Inverness. The staircase is really beautiful and the room we stayed in was a good size and really clean. Breakfast in the morning was a continental which had plenty to chose from and the staff were always friendly and helpful. Most the the staff on reception were really helpful and friendly and went out of their way to help you if they could. Very convenient for the train and bus station and walking into the city centre itself. Would definitely stay here again.

Direkt am Bahnhof von Inverness und trotzdem mitten im Geschehen — ideal für eine Nacht auf dem Weg durch die Highlands. Parkplätze direkt am Hotel sind vorhanden, was in einer Stadtlage nicht selbstverständlich ist. Das Hotel hat echten schottischen Charakter mit seiner beeindruckenden viktorianischen Eingangshalle. Solide Basis für alles, was Inverness zu bieten hat.

Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

It was the worst room ever and I stay in lots of hotels worldwide Asked for double bed and got 2 singles Room smell was old, window had to be held open with mug, bathroom was nice and clean but room was old fashioned and not comfortable place to be. I wouldn’t accept rooms at top of hotel, maybe other rooms nicer Couldn’t wait for morning to come to get out.

We had a lovely stay here, it is very much a hotel that does not feel modern, but is sort of refreshing in that way. A/C seems to be very uncommon in hotels in this area, but of the places we stayed in Northern Scotland this had absolutely the best/strongest fan. The room was large and comfortable, although the mattress might ultimately feel a bit thin if you are on the heavier side. The best thing about this hotel, in my opinion, is the proximity to the Inverness ScotRail station, upon which the hotel sits directly next to. It makes it a very easy jumping off point for any number of day trips, and is of course also centrally located to Inverness' city-center as well.

We could stay in a huge twin room with kings bed each of us, which was bonus. The room was pleasant and we had a comfirtable stay, thank you. The location was just next to the station which was also very convenient.

Great location, close to the rail station. Had a great old/original feel to it. Very big room

Well located in the centre of Inverness, very limited car paking so it's pot luck if you get a space. The hotel has charm and impressive original features, for example the fabulous staircase. However, it is a bit tired and need of some internal redecoration. Good value for money.

Staff were helpful, room was nice…parking was difficult.

Room was clean and staff was helpful in getting a taxi to the airport booked for me. It was more of a transit hotel than I had realized. It is connected to a train station and across the street from the busses. I also wish the door had an additional latch or deadbolt, as a female solo traveler I was uncomfortable not having that.

Comfortable beds. Hotel a bit tired and not welcoming

Check in was quick, front desk staff were nice, shower was great! Location is very convenient. My room was on the 2nd floor and I heard a fair amount of street noise at night and in the morning with the window open. I’d stay there again for location and the large room size, which is hard to find.

Not a bad hotel from being from the 1800s, little run down in the rooms though and could probably use some maintenance

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Inverness. Convenient to great music venues, pubs. Don’t count on finding a parking space on site. Garage a few blocks away.
