This is a lovely Pub in the heart of Old Basingstoke. A trifle awkward to get into by car, but plenty of parking once we'd managed it! Friendly and helpful staff. A good breakfast.

The checking in was efficient, friendly and quick. The room was spacious snd clean and the bed was comfortable. No fridge or coffee machine but it is 3* and they had irons and hairdryers that you can ask for. Great value and very central

Super helpful staff. Lovely quiet older hotel. Well placed for shopping and walking in the park. Good restaurants and bars handy. Very well priced especially with free parking thrown in. Would stay again.

Good location. All ok and very clean, other than the room was extremely hot on a very warm weekend. This affected sleep and the hotel does not provide fans when asked at reception. Friends who also stayed said their rooms were stifling too. Wouldn't stay again in the summer unfortunately.

It was very well presented in all aspects. The kitchen staff were good and helpful. The reception staff were well dressed and presented themselves very professionally rooms were very neat and clean. Would come again when visiting my mother everything is nearby.

It's in a great location, staff are great. Breakfast was pretty good considering the price. The room was good , very clean and a window that opened. Parking was next to the hotel . Walked to the anvil in 10 minutes.

The staff were incredible, Wendy is a star and redeemed what could have been a terrible stay. Her customer service is top notch and is a credit to the company.

Lovely room, nice and spacious. Great staff including the receptionist, who was brilliant and very welcoming!

Excellent staff, very helpful and courteous. Stayed for 2 nights and room was cleaned each day with fresh towels. Very easy parking. Only downside was the bed mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable. WiFi was excellent and the shower was strong and hot which is always nice.

I didn’t experience that much. It was just a place to lay my head and rest.

Better and cheaper than Holiday Inn and the Premier Highly recommended

Nice hotel. Staff attentive, friendly but not overpowering. Barring one niggle (below), we had a good stay. The Gluten-free options for my wife at Breakfast were wide-ranging and good. The hotel is centrally situated, and so there are plenty of places you can walk to (park, shops, restaurants) within 2 or 3 minutes. Didn't use the bar or dine in except one breakfast, so can't comment, but it is the same area as where breakfast is served, and is spacious and clean. The room was clean, and refreshments and towels were replenished. ONLY negative point:The room we were in (43), not sure if it applies to others, had a towel rail that is permanently on, without any on/off/thermostat control. This made the room too warm, and having the window open only just countered this. Since there was a double switch outside the bathroom, and only one of them appeared to do anything (bathroom light), maybe the other could be repurposed for the towel rail and labelled as such?

I had a lovely stay at the Red Lion. My travel plans got changed, but the staff were incredibly accommodating and immediately put me at ease - couldn't do enough for me which is always appreciated. The rooms themselves are very cozy and comfortable - I particularly liked the abundance of bird paintings and prints as decor, they were genuinely nice surprise. The shower was a particular highlight, two different showerheads, great water pressure and some lovely complimentary shower gel and conditioner. As I was staying over a weekend, the hotel staff took the courtesy of warning about potential noise from the nearby high street, however this was a non-issue during my stay - once the window was shut, I put my head down to sleep with no issues whatsoever. I would quite gladly stay at the Red Lion again next time I'm in Basingstoke, the place has a real charm and character to it and the service was genuinely excellent.

Hotel was clean & tidy. Lady on check in "Rose" was fab. Great location for eateries & bars in the town.

Great staff who were welcoming and listened & responded to requests both before & during stay.

Hotel needs a refurb. We upgraded to superior room but carpet was badly stained. Bathroom needs upgrading. Basic breakfast
