CHECK REVIEWS ON ALL PLATFORMS. See photos for more info. “Premium Apartment”, stayed 5 nights. It’s not stated on advertisement that this is not a serviced apartment. Found out after booking and paying that it’s privately owned rental unit. The check in process was abnormal - bunch of people all waiting outside the apartment lobby to check in, a lady gathers everyone like school camp before ushering us in the lift and dropping us at our apartment. It did not feel safe that other guests knew which room we were located in, let alone the lady never even introduced herself, provided name or business card etc and just invited herself into your room to take a bond. If you’re a solo traveller I do not recommend. Other reviews from March 2026 on google and (which is now deleted and the business name has changed from City Stays to 88 Rentals) show the exact room I got and it doesn’t seem they’d taken that feedback or rectified anything listed in that review! e.g broken and dirty stove, broken window sill handles, nasty stain on couch etc. I couldn’t be bothered dealing with the stress of complaining and potentially moving rooms while I was on a holiday, especially after seeing the lack of care and argumentative responses from the operator in other peoples previous reviews. The only thing good about this place is the location. The room lacks major attention to detail.

Clean room. Conveniently located. You won’t be go hungry as there are many eateries and stores within reach

Great location and convenient to everything, You don’t have to go far for necessities and everything is in walking distance,,once I had a contact phone number everything went smoothly for the check in ,, I did find a face cloth with stains on it, which I hope was only makeup, and the mattress was a bit tired,, but looking past that I will definitely stay there again..made my stay in Melbourne very pleasant..Thank you

Apartment was clean

Those beds are horrible, sorry mate. That’s how we all feel about them.. rooms are generally fine and have everything you need , price is unbeatableand location is excellent. It’s a shame about the balconies and most of all I’m not sure how I feel about having glass walls for the shower considering its location because you can see everything from the lounge room if someone is in there. That was awkward for me last weekend because my daughter and her friends came up to get me to go out and I was in the shower when they all walked in and they could see everything.

Mould in bathroom and dirty under desk. Lots of damage throughout the room including broken mirror.

Perfect location to explore the city, buses and train stops within easy walking distance Apartment was clean with good aircon, functional, stocked kitchenette 10/10 would recommend

The apartment itself was spotlessly clean and the check-in was good. The area was handy for trams and you could walk around safely. A small supermarket across the road too. I chose this as the pictures showed a balcony with views over the city. My room had a view over next doors dirty office windows making it gloomy and an industrial extractor fan going 24/7 which made it impossible to open the windows or sleep properly. One night maybe ok but seven was just too much.

The studio apartment is spotlessly clean, well equipped and attractively furnished. It is well located near Flagstaff Gardens, station and pleasant cafes. The staff members were friendly and helpful. Recommended,

Room was generally ok. AC was very loud so could not be left on at night. Just a couple of little things could of made the stay a little better - e.g.: no extra bin bags, limited toilet paper. Guy looking after the room was easy to deal with.

Nice a close to Victoria market. Within the free tram zone .

If I’m ever in Melbourne again, I’ll seriously consider staying at City Stays again! Great property in a fantastic location

The location was fantastic — within walking distance to Queen Victoria Market, the CBD, and the main shopping area. There were plenty of dining options nearby, and having a supermarket just across the road was very convenient. I also really appreciated having a kitchen and washing machine in the room, which made the stay much more comfortable and practical. However, there were some housekeeping issues that could be improved. There was an unpleasant smell from the carpet and dishwasher. The kettle and kitchen floor felt oily, the blinds had dead insects on them, the balcony had leftover food, and there was food residue on the microwave plate.

Excellent accomodation in a great location. The apartment was clean and spacious and had everything you needed-a kitchenette and a washing machine
