I decided to stay here because I didn’t wanna drive all of the way from Grand Forks, North Dakota to Thompson Manitoba. This location was a good stopping point. Unfortunately, the place was a disaster. First, they did not have my reservation. Then when I showed them my hotels.com confirmation, they gave me a room, but tried to charge me more than the amount in the reservation. The room was terrible. The bathroom had a terrible smell and was not clean. The front door did not have a lock; it automatically lock from the outside, but there was no deadbolt. The screen door was broken out. The window air conditioner did not work very well. You cannot use the remote to turn the TV on or off or adjust the volume. I did not feel comfortable Sleeping there so I slept in my sleeping bag. I definitely would not recommend this place at all.

A sorely needed stop in Ashern after a long trip from Churchill by train and road. Room was really run down. The host, who was very friendly and welcoming, said that the place opened 60 years ago. Not much has seemingly been done since, but the host took over 3 years ago and is planning a gradual renovation, he said. Sheets were clean, the coffee machine was fine, toilet worked and the shower was dirty but functioned 😅. I’d stay again.

Tub was disgusting we refused to shower it was so bad, couldn’t wash our hands in the sink as the sink trickled water next to nothing came out, tv would shut off after 3 seconds of turning it on, we went to check in they gave us a key, we went out to start getting the kids to bed before we even pulled up to the door they were telling us they were putting us in a different room, staff watched and stared as I took my service dog to the bathroom, 10/10 do NOT recommend

The property was in exceptionally poor condition. Rooms were dirty and I believe but could not verify the bedbugs on the sheets. Bathroom was dirty and in poor condition. The TV did not work. When checking in the staff repeatedly asked me when I had made the reservation. After much hunting they found it. Nothing was done by computer mostly manual. The motel is attached to a bar with slot machines with most attendees being Native Americans. There is a cannabis store around the corner. The town of Ashern is no great shucks but the motel was a dump.

The property in the pictures isn’t where you’re staying. It makes it looks like it’s on the highway, but it’s not. I had to park my suv and trailer 3 blocks away at the gas station on the highway out of fear of vandalism or theft. The bathroom door had a small calibre bullet hole in it covered by an energy drink sticker. Overall I guess it was clean, but nothing has been updated since the 70s. I realize it’s a 2 star hotel but there aren’t any other options in ashern. This seemed like the best but I guess that’s what you get for the money. If you’re planning an overnight snowmobile trip, go farther north to moosehorne The rooms are also not as they’re depicted in the photos. One of the rooms from my party was essentially a closet with a bed in it.

Didn’t really like anything they only gave 1 towel for 2 people the bed was not comfy and the pillows where flatter then a pancake

i just have no choice and it is pricy for the condition of the property

Ashern Motor Hotel It is a motor hotel associated with a bar with slot machines and pool table. The check in was at the bar counter with no partition or physical separation form the public area. There is absolutely no privacy. The bar tender/person working at the bar was also the person doing the check in. The check in was done manually with paper forms to complete. We were interrupted seveal times as the person was pulled away for other tasks. The room was not clean with the desk lamp and the bath robe bar broken. We have two persons but these was only one set of towels. The air conditioning was very loud and there is only 1 channel on TV. I will not recommend anyone to this motel.

This place is a bar style hotel. The first room was gross and the door didn't lock. The host was quick to give us a different room. But it wasn't much clearer. Great if you drank to much and need to sleep it off, not for long road trip or vacation.

Minimal heat in room, and could not get it any warmer. Bathroom was extremely cold, no heat at all and not very clean. Shower was disgusting.

Very run down and dirty

It’s a motel, so you can’t have high expectations but it was pretty dirty inside the room.

Our room had drug baggies, cigaret butts and gross snot Kleenex in the drawers of the night stands. The room was not clean on any level. The shower was leaking all over the place and the bathroom floor was rotten. The toilet looked like it had not been cleaned for a long time. The sprinkler and smoke detector were taped off to ensure people getting away with smoking drugs and cigarets in the rooms. Over all this was a dump! I do not recommend staying here.

Do not stay here-seriously cat pee, poo in toilets, brown stains on white towels

Terrible. Stay anywhere else. Noisy bar right beside rooms, Was not aware of my reservation, tried to check me into a room, and opened the door on someone staying in the room they looked at, next room was filthy and I was told I could wait 20 minutes while they cleaned it. Staff had no idea. Ended up requesting a refund and driving all the way back to Winnipeg instead.
