Dalvay by the Sea Hotel

We booked this for our mini honeymoon the three nights following our wedding (end of Sept) and were excited to stay in the King Suite. But ended up being quite disappointed. The room was very cold with no heat and the front desk person wasn't the nicest when we asked for extra blankets. We weren't expecting the red carpet but at least a "thanks so much for choosing to stay here for your honeymoon". Some of the staff were great but generally no one cared that we had chose Dalvay for our honeymoon over Blackbush or elsewhere. It's a beautiful place but badly needs updating as the gov't did recognize and will eventually put money into the main building. But, we wouldn't stay there again until that happens.

Dalvay by the Sea has the charm you are looking for when visiting PEI. The hotel is beautiful and the grounds of the hotel have much to offer. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant and both were very good. The beach is minutes away by foot. Booked a room with a view and highly recommend. I know reviews have stated this already but rooms have no TVs so I am mentioning it but the hotel has so much to offer and makes you feel like you are stepping a bit into the past so it is not necessary. Lobby and common rooms have fireplaces, board games are available as well. Hope to visit again soon!

We were instantly greeted at the door upon arrival. The gentleman who welcomed us was so polite. He explained several things about the property and offered us to come back after dinner to stroll around the property and down to the beach. We took him up on it and we were handed a flashlight, towels and when we returned we were showed to the fireplace for warming. We felt so special our whole trip.

We really loved staying here for our honeymoon. The whole experience was very peaceful, quiet and cozy. The building itself was amazing to stay in, such a well preserved piece of history. The room had stunning views, was so comfortable and very clean! Staff were very kind and always made sure everything we needed was there. Had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, which was delicious. Very helpful and accommodating for food sensitivities. One of our favourite things to do was to relax by the fireplace. Can’t wait for our next visit already!!

We loved this Inn! Impeccable staff, grand interior, lovely food/dining. We enjoyed having coffee in the library in the morning and reading before breakfast. A wonderful stay! My only minor note is that in the upstairs wing where we stayed, the walls are pretty thin so you can hear others.

It was a great stay until the front desk charge the dinner and breakfast twice. When I checked out, I paid those by cash, however she charged those via my credit card as well. I asked her to cancel and she said she would do however it did appear on my card bill now.

Beautiful building with knowledgeable staff on the history of home and surrounding land. Loved being close to a walkable beach

Beautiful location, wonderful staff and lake view. Room access is by long stair cases and this was a challenge for one of us with balance issues as a senior.

Beautiful old country house on the ocean with excellent dining and very unique stay experience.

Our stay at the Dalvay was fantastic. The hotel is beautiful and the staff was so friendly and accomodating. The restaurant was equally as good and I highly recommend trying the chicken dinner and chowder. The hotel grounds were so peaceful. I highly recommend this hotel.

Is definitely a place where you step back in time. The woodwork and the furniture are such an experience because it’s all very 1800s early 1900 setting. The preparation of the food and the presentation is absolutely wonderful. It is not your traditional motel it’s a hotel with a time stamped flare.

The hotel was gorgeous it was like stepping back in time.

Shower, bed great. Atmosphere was excellent, highly recommend.

Location is amazing! Area beautiful. Staff great. Amenities are expensive. Dust hanging from fans. Windows are mouldy and ill fitting. Furnishings are tired. Everything needs painting and TLC. Outside pathways are pitch black. There is a balance between historic/romantic and safe/practical. Dalvay needs to find that balance.
