Sandman Hotel Vancouver Downtown

Hotel stay was decent. It was clean. Good location. Every interaction with somebody from the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel would get a little loud due to renovations I think. They also charge tax on top of the parking charge and extra fees if there are major events happening downtown. Had I known that I would’ve booked somewhere else. Parking is $25 plus they add “parking tax” of $6 too. Definitely staying somewhere else next time.

Clean and what you'd expect

The only big complaint was that the bathroom sink is too small. Its the size of a phone book so the faucet covers the entire washbasin.

The value you know and appreciate with updated rooms. North tower king sized bed with updated bathroom with dual shower heads was a pleasant surprise. Bring reusable water bottles and obtain ice/water from the Shark Club. Ice machine was down on the 4th floor and only 2 bottled waters provided, further came with a fee.

Mattress was not supportive/balanced on one side. I was in uneven position. Slept on other side of the mattress and it was manageable. Rooms are not at all sound proof. Next door guest was making loud noise till 4 am in the morning. I could sleep only after they slept.

My stay at the sandman hotel was great! The staff were friendly and the check in and out process went smoothly. I will be staying here in the future.

I didn’t like the check in time @ 4, I was told to park on p4 drove in and out of parking area for 50min no spots available, found one spot in p1 checked with front desk,was told that was fine. My event started at 5:30! Once we returned from event a note was under the door asking for me to move my car,I called front desk was told p1 has no security ,hotel will not be responsible for any damage. I had, had a couple drinks at event so was unable to move my car.

Liked Everything

On the positive side, the location is great. Very walkable and central. The lobby always smelled great. On the negative side, the hospitality was lacking. The staff (that we encountered - can’t speak to everyone) were not particularly friendly or helpful. They didn’t really explain anything and we had some slight security concerns. There was a man (who did not appear to be a guest) who was in the lobby who approached each guest asking for money and was helping himself to coffee. This was in full view of the receptionist and he even interacted with them. Fine no big deal, except at one point he headed to the elevators where he could have easily tailgated someone to their room. At another point during our stay there was something resembling blood outside the main entrance and it remained there when we left in the morning to when we came back in the afternoon. This is still a good choice if it fits your budget, but I would probably look for other options when I return to the city.

Heres' hoping the employer's refund some my hotel fee. After a great night at a concert, climb into bed to a quilt in between the cover and sheets....stinking. Omg! It was midnight and I was tired. So my husband flipped the bedding ro the bottom. I'll never book a single king, such a small room. Could have gotten back to the airport and stayed at the fairmont airport for not much more $. Expected hallway noise wiyh it being an ACDC concert, didn't disappoint there. Noise most of the night. Too bad for this experience.
