Great staff and lovely view and location

Hotel Belmar is an unforgettable escape, with stunning cloud forest views, beautifully designed rooms, and warm, attentive service that makes every guest feel special.The farm-to-table dining, on-site brewery, and fresh local flavors turn every meal into a highlight.

This hotel benefits from several things, none more important than their incredibly friendly and hospitable staff. They truly make you feel special throughout your stay and returning the beautiful property every day makes it feels as though you're coming home. The property grounds are beautiful and the restaurant patio is to die for. Not spending every single morning sipping coffee from that restaurant patio would be a mistake. Thank you to Hotel Belmar for an unforgettable 4 days.

Room and view were amazing and the food was out of this world. A very special place!

Rooms were exactly as advertised and very clean. The service went from great to average to great again. The restaurant staff seemed a bit inexperienced. The food was very good. The presentation and service was just above average. The staff attempted to address the issues and I would recommend giving it another try.

The room was clean, breakfast was healthy, fresh and delicious, the staff was immensely helpful and there was plenty of parking.

Beautiful property with lots of character and a beautiful view all the way out to the ocean. The restaurant serves good breakfast as well as delicious dinners. We really enjoyed the brewery as well. It’s a good 20 minute walk to the center of town or a short cab ride. Overall we would stay here again if we revisit Monteverde.

Amazing stay! I would go back. Excellent restaurant, helpful staff, and comfortable spacious room. Great ambiance to the place. Only thing we missed is a gym / exercise area.

The food at this hotel is outstanding. Service could use a little work, but overall ok. Very clean and charming property.

Great place

This is a beautiful and very thoughtful hotel in Monteverde. The rooms are well laid out and each has an incredible view of the Nicoya Peninsula in the distance. The balcony was amazing. The vibe of the hotel, its property and the area in general are very relaxing and peaceful. The staff are incredible and make the place so inviting. Breakfasts are included and delicious. We had all three of our dinners at the hotel and were pleased with the taste and variety. The jacuzzi is delightful. We highly recommend this property to anyone looking for an upscale but not overly expensive (that's all relative today) stay in Monteverde.

The room was great as was the hotel shared areas. The hotel charges top end rates - which is fine, but then the evening meal we had in the restaurant was decent but not great (my wife’s dish was not hot). We had a better experience in the tap room the next evening. The options for cooked breakfast are very good but not to be able to have a decent bowl of fruit per individual and put yoghurt, nuts etc on top was a shame.

Staff was very friendly and welcoming, room was beautiful and clean and you could not beat the view and food!!

Beautiful room and views of the valley and the breakfast was great. Really tranquil place to stay. Only issued was we had booked transfer form the airport and it seemed a bit disorganised, no one was waiting for us and we just happened upon another driver who called the hotel.

At the end of the rainbow, on the edge of the cloud forest, sits Hotel Belmar. The property feels like a unique blend of a boutique eco-lodge and a European ski chalet, crafted almost entirely from local wood. While the approach road is steep and rocky, there is convenient parking very close to the entrance. With only 40 rooms, the experience feels intimate. Our room featured a private balcony with seating for two and a spectacular view of the valley extending all the way to the Nicoya Peninsula on the Pacific coast. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, featuring functional bathrooms with eco-friendly products. To ensure total immersion in the cloud forest, there are no TVs—a touch we truly appreciated. If you are on the property at sunset, you won't be disappointed; the colors are incredible. The dining was a distinct highlight. The onsite restaurant, Celajes, practices farm-to-table dining using produce from their own organic farm, Madre Tierra. Breakfast was included and offered plenty of hearty, healthy options. We also enjoyed two outstanding dinners there; the quality, quantity, and care put into each dish were evident. The waitstaff was perfectly attentive, and the bartender crafts excellent cocktails using fresh, onsite ingredients. Don't miss the onsite craft brewery—even as a non-IPA fan, I found theirs well-balanced and smooth, though the Stout was my personal favorite. The service and activities truly set Belmar apart.
