The location is great. It has a on site restaurant and a swimming pool. The food is delicious with local and fresh material. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room is clean and spacious, but some noise over the roof, maybe some small animals there. The garden is amazing with beautiful views, a lot of tropical plants.

Real good place and very neat and clean. Nice place and peaceful in the middle of green rain forest. Will go again..

At the end of November, 2025, our family spent three days in La Fortuna at Arenal History Inn. This is a small hotel with only about 10 units. It is however a little different from a regular hotel in that each spacious single-storm room is independent from the others. All the rooms are surrounded by tropical trees and quite some distance away from the street. Therefore, you don’t need to worry about getting noise from the room next door or from passing traffic on the street. As a guest, the rustic setting makes you feel close to the nature. I once even spotted a humming bird on one of the trees outside the room. I also saw quite a few other bigger birds that I don’t even know the names. Surprisingly, this small hotel has its own restaurant and swimming pool even though I didn’t use the swimming pool during my stay. On the last day of the stay, the room air conditioning unit was out of order. The manager came in during the after hours in the evening and got that taken care of promptly. It was highly appreciated. I highly recommend this hotel to family travelers who are interested in a quiet place with natural tropical surroundings. LC
