Palace Tartaglia

Great location in the old city, near the Riva. It’s in an apartment building, you walk through a shop to access the area, then up some stairs. Our room was large and had a fridge which we appreciate. A small grocery store is right across the street.

Marko is very helpful en kind communication. Check-in went smoothly, staff helped me with my suitcase because no elevator, room the third floor. A broken lamp was repaired immediately. The location was fantastic, a 30-second walk to Riva Boulevard with all restaurants and shops. Unfortunately, the bathroom wasn't clean; it smelled of sewage, and there was mold and sewer flies part over the wall next to the shower faucet. I can't upload pictures here as proof. There was only one cleaning service for a 4-night/5-day stay, even though the advertisement stated daily cleaning.

We loved our stay at Palace Tartaglia. Tucked away but just steps from any and all that The Palace area in Split had to offer. Would recommend.

Really charming hotel at a great location inside the palace area. Lots of shops and restaurants just steps from the door. Be aware that there is no elevator. Staff is helpful with taking suitcases up, but there are a lot of stairs if you forget something in your room. The site says the rooms are serviced daily, but that didn't happen for us. The toilet seat was loose, the shower drained slowly and one of the lights didn't work, so while quaint and comfortable, I can't give it 5 stars.

Clean large rooms and right in old town - very easy to find and walkable to everything. Nice stay and rooms were decorated nicely.

Central location in an interesting building through a gallery. Even though it was centrally located it was quiet enough. Nice shower. The young man who checked us in was really nice and took our bag up the stairs for us (quite a few stairs btw). If gladly stay here again

A room and bathroom in a very old building in the heart of Split. Cons: Property needs upgrades and renovations asap. We stayed 4 days and our room was only serviced once (per our request). Door knob seems to be falling from the front door, shower and sink are clogged, some lights are not working, bathroom looks dated and the place is extremely noisy early in the mornings. Pros: Premium location, safe, spacious room.

Hotel was in a fantastic location in historic building with lots of characheter. Walk outside to lots of restaurants, shops, and not far at all from riva. Our room had refrigerator which we made sure to use. Along with comfortable and stylish decor. Host was very personable, and provided a lot of great information on things to do, places to eat, etc. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Couldn’t get a better location in the city centre, lovely place. Our host Toma was really helpful with an easy check in and giving us some great recommendations. Overall brilliant place to stay in Split.

The property is in a great location. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked perfectly.

Overall nice stay, 100/10 location, right in the middle of Old Town, not too noisy at night, and generally comfortable stay. My only complaints were that our host was not responsive at all, and even after we checked in, he was not responsive to our messages asking a very basic question. Another issue we had was the shower, there was no tub lining, and the drain was slow and horrible so our bathroom would flood after every shower. Other than those two issues, we had a pleasant stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Palace Tartaglia. Our room was small but very comfortable for our three-night visit. It was spotless, and the bed was cozy and inviting. Be aware there are quite a few stairs to reach the rooms—so if that’s an issue, request a lower floor or this hotel may not be the best fit. One quirky detail is that the entrance and exit are through an art gallery; you’re given keys for after-hours access, which we found unique. The hotel is perfectly located inside the city walls, just a short walk to the harbor, lovely restaurants, and lively bars. Our host, Toma, was excellent—quick to respond on WhatsApp and full of great tips on local places to visit. Highly recommend! Travel tip: If you’re coming from the airport, use Uber or arrange the hotel’s shuttle service—it’s much cheaper than a taxi.
