Hotel du Vin & Bistro Birmingham

Great location, comfy bed, however the room was very noisy (corridor noise). Also construction work is ongoing- nice drink token left to recognise this. One issue is the lobby, the entrance doors are very hard to open by yourself with bags as you are on the stairs. But overall good stay.

It’s beautiful building, rooms are nice but few issues: - radiator in bedroom doesn’t work so had a portable one - poor lighting in bedroom, only one spotlight in the room, bathroom lighting very bright - radiator in bathroom is really loud when switched on - window had a gap, not sealed so a slight breeze would come in - on arrival no info was shared on breakfast or complimentary drinks - room names are different and quirky but logistically annoying, had to do a full loop when on my floor trying to find my room, receptionist could have informed left or right for my room..!!! Not sure I’d stay again but it is beautiful building.

Expected more of a Hotel du Vin based on stays at other ones. Seemed like they needed more staff and the hotel looked a bit tired. Lucky we got to breakfast before the rush and they ran out of juice and had a massive queue at the coffee machine. The cooked breakfast was nice, the bed was big and comfy and the towels were big. Will probably look for somewhere else next time.

We stayed in an absolutely beautiful junior suite, with an exquisite bathroom, shower and toiletries. Staff were welcoming and courteous. We had drinks in the smart but still cosy and comfortable Bubble Bar and breakfast the following morning was served in the lovely restaurant and was delicious. As expected, an excellent hotel.

am writing to formally raise my concerns regarding my recent stay at your hotel. Unfortunately, my experience fell far below the standard I expected, and I feel compelled to request either another stay or a refund. The issues began when the blind pull cord in my room broke. The response time to fix this was slow, and what should have been a quick resolution turned into a major disruption. Initially, I was told I would be moved to another room, so we packed up our belongings. However, instead of being moved, staff entered the room with ladders to attempt repairs. This was both unprofessional and intrusive, particularly as I had to explain to them how the blind should be fixed. On returning later that evening, I expected to find the room reset, blinds drawn, and bed turned down, but this was not the case. The sofa in the room was also in an unacceptable condition, with heavy staining that made it unsuitable for use. Frankly, it is not of a standard I would expect to find in any hotel, let alone for the price I paid. While I understand renovations may be ongoing and note that a couple of complimentary drinks were offered, these do not address the fact that the room itself was not up to standard and the service was poorly managed. Given the above, I believe it is reasonable to request either a refund or the opportunity to return for another stay under improved conditions. I hope you will take this matter seriously and provide a prompt resolution.

Great hotel, bistro, bar and food wonderful. Missed breakfast daily as had to be out pre the restaurant opening which was a real shame.

Good central position. a bit soulless. Service limited, no one to help with bags. Nice room but would go somewhere else next time.

I was just expecting more I think. The room felt very tired and dated, although the room was large, it was dark and not very welcoming. All the fixtures and fittings were tired around the edges, and quite dusty. The bathroom was large and the shower huge and to be fair was all very clean. Toiletries etc lovely touch. Bed very comfortable and I slept well. I just think as I say, the room I was in was tired and nothing special. I only stayed for one night and if I had been staying any longer I think I would have been quite disappointed.

Unfortunately our stay was a little disappointing for this standard of establishment. It was lovely to get upgraded to a junior suite and receive a complimentary drink in the bar. The room was starting to look a bit tired, but the bed was comfy and its always nice to find some fresh milk in the fridge. We had dinner in the restaurant where we both has the Entrecote Steak, whilst mine was no better than ok my wife's was mostly fat and gristle in all honesty not acceptable considering they are £35 each. But to be fair they removed Mel's steak from the bill without argument. So all-in-all not an unpleasant stay but not really upto the standard we have come to expect from Hotel du Vin.
