Really disappointing stay after staying in many HDV's and this one so many times. The bed was really uncomfortable; the pillows were all soft and so uncomfortable; and they had the wrong size sheet on (or badly managed) so that it kept moving meaning I ended up sleeping direct on the mattress. When I was asked for my views on checking out, I mentioned this. The receptionist didn't even acknowledge this and simply said: "You owe £15 for the parking". I actually thought the better response would have been to waive that charge! There are lots of other hotels in Newcastle where there would be no isuses with comfort and, if there were, they would actually acknowledge the compliant they instigated.

Loved our stay - welcome and restaurant service, in particular, was first class. Thank you.

Room was clean, staff were nice, comfortable size rooms and good area.

Lovely room with lots of amenities and little touches along with a well stocked tea tray. The hotel was lovely and serene, well decorated, and in a great location.

Great room with lovely touches such as quality toiletries and tea/ coffee. Staff all friendly and helpful. Green initiatives such as voucher for bar if room cleaning not required

We enjoyed it very much .but was expensive as we had to pay more for. Changing from Saturday to Friday .then parking on top . Could not fault the staff or accommodation

Ive stayed at the hotel du vin before and loved it, but this time was a different story, perhaps because I had a dog with me? Receptionist unfriendly and even ignored me when I asked if the upgrade lottery had any dog friendly rooms. The room itself had dust on every surface including thick grey dust on the ornaments very high up, gunk on the soap dispenser and just generally the bathroom didn't feel clean, hairs in the bath etc. I smiled and said hello to staff who met my eye but didn't even smile back. No one came to collect my room service hanger that I put out at 9pm (I couldn't go to breakfast in the dining room because of the dog) and when I went to ask about my options on discovering the hanger I was just met with a shrug, no apology, and was told I could purchase breakfast "if I wanted". Really disappointing. I love that the hotel du vin welcomes dogs for a fee, but I was also a bit surprised that the dog bed provided was absolutely covered in dog hair from previous pooches that went all over the floor when it was chucked down as well.
