Le Bouchon Brasserie & Hotel

My 5th time of staying here and a very different experience to all previous visits. I travel with for work so being able to work from the room is extremely important. I always choose to stay here as the rooms are clean, well proportioned and there is usually a desk or table and chair to work from. On this visit I was allocated Room 6. Although it is classed as a double room it was tiny (you would struggle with 2 people in there) There was a small dressing table but no chairs. Hardly any plug sockets meaning I had to attend an online meeting perched on the end of the bed. Downstairs in reception / restaurant they were playing music so loud it could clearly be heard in the room. There are only so many times you can listen to the same tracks on repeat. This continued until 9.30pm and restarted at 8am the next morning. Fortunately it didn't wake me as the extremely loud kitchen extractor, which seemed to be under my window, came on at 7.15am and did the job of an alarm clock perfectly. Worth noting also that the room was incredibly cold. I would of mentioned the above on check out but there was no one there. All previous stays have been fine but probably wouldn't stay again unless I was sure I wouldn't be allocated room 6.

Nice place, looks recently refurbished as rooms were very comfortable, new carpets etc. Does not do food on Mondays and Tuesday, but good restaurants locally. Staff pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay again

Amazing staff, food of a high standard. Rooms especially windows need repainting, updating .Noisy if windows are left open. But I would highly recommend. Will be staying again.

Very comfortable stay at Le Bouchon. Staff were so attentive and helpful. Well appointed room with wall aircon for comfort. Pod coffee maker was a nice touch and to make a change the TV was of a good size to be able to sit up in bed and watch! Breakfast options were so varied and it was all made freshly. Downsides - there was no USB ports in the plug sockets - i luckily had a power bank with me to charge a phone. The toast for breakfast was dry despite butter.

Friendly staff, clean and welcoming. Two things let our stay down, bedroom was small so bed pushed against wall with access on one side and unfortunately our room backed on to the boiler room that had something cutting in and out all night . A different room and all would have been good .

Just booked this last minute as we were at a music festival just down the road from second one I was met with the most friendly staff I was shown round everywhere then taken to my lovely room perfect. When we arrived back we were again met with a lovely staff member and our sleep was amazing highly recommended must stay here if your in the area

This hotel is a real find. It is 5 star. From Clare at check in, with Aron who carried our bags up 2 flights of stairs (the building is 300 years old and the owners cannot get permission to install a lift!), to Piotr and Aron who provided excellent service during the evening meal and last but not least to Emma who looked after us at breakfast. The selection of dishes on the evening meal menu was excellent and the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen was second to none. If you are visiting the Heybridge Maldon region for any reason stat in this hotel!

Arrived to be told restaurant closed, felt as if we were unwanted relatives who had turned up without warning. Will not be staying again.

We were the only guests Limited staff Despite being only guests we couldn’t extend our departure We had wanted to stay until closer to midday as we were attending a midday funeral but house keeping needed to clean room for later incoming guests In the end we sat in Costa to kill time

Lovely room, very quiet. Very comfy bed.

The evening meal, the bed and above all the staff were exceptional. A special mention to the American lady at breakfast time. A few details may need addressing : no plug for the hairdryer near the dressing table in the Junior Suite and not great lighting for doing your make up…maybe a desk lamp… The whole place is immaculate. Would definitely recommend.

Great stay here at Le Bouchon. Clean room but very small room & bed for 2 Adults. Dining option for dinner & breakfast were very nice. Would definitely stay again but would ask for bigger room.
