Staff very friendly and polite. Food was excellent with good service amd selection. Hotel location was ideal for exploring Northumberland visitor centres and attractions. Only criticism was the bathroom. Being two pensioners we found using the shower in the bath very difficult. We now can only use a cubicle shower to.bath. The mininium requiement for being able to use the shower in the hotel is for a "hand rail" be fitted to the wall to help getting in.and out of bath? I heard other pensioners / customers complain about how difficult it was to shower!! Best solution please replace baths with cubicle showers!!!

Purse Lodge was a great place to stop on our way to Bamburvg Castle. Nice room, bed and pillows. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were super friendly.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were great, and the 24hr cafe very convenient for when i returned too late to use the restaurant. Room was decent and comfortable.

The cleanliness was excellent. Food was very good and plenty of it. The staff were friendly and efficient. Very quiet and in an excellent position for many local places of interest. I would recommend it.

Clean room. Staff pleasant and helpful. Food excellent. Ideal situation on A1 for overnight.

Six of us were travelling up to Scotland and booked 3 rooms for one night. We all thought that the rooms were very clean and comfortable with amazing views across to Bamborough. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room was most welcome after a long drive. We ate at the restaurant which had a very good menu, the food was very good and well presented and reasonably priced. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful too. I would happily recommend Purdy Lodge without hesitation.

Comfortable and functional overnight stop on North-South route, adjacent to main A1 road. No traffic noise, good food and reasonable room.

Very convenient for travelling around the area as it’s on the A1. No noise from the road or much from other rooms. Staff all very friendly and breakfast good. Only niggle is bed very soft and squeaky when moving around but other people might like a soft mattress.

Great value and excellent food

On walking in room 7 there was a terrible smell even though the window was fully open. I walked back to reception and explained the smell was bad in the room and asked for another room. Was given a key for room 5. Room didn't have the awful smell of the other room and although was basic and a bit tired looking we settled into room. After an hour we went for an evening meal in the restaurant which was ok. We then returned to the room only to open the door and be hit with the same awful smell that had been in the other room! Was coming from the bathroom so we shut the toilet lid, blocked up the sink hole and put a towel over the shower drain. Couldn't get rid of the smell but as it was quite late we just stayed in the room hoping the smell would go, window was fully open. The smell didn't go, it was smelly all night but did start to go when we woke around 6am. Didnt sleep well mainly due to smell and having to have window open quite wide. Must of been a problem with the drains. We ended up leaving hotel by 6.30am and did'nt bother with breakfast as we were fed up. With hindsight we should of requested a refund and gone elsewhere. Lady on reception was friendly enough but smell really spoilt our stay.

Room was comfortable and looked out the back to a beautiful view towards the coast. Excellent evening meal and a reasonable price. Very efficient staff. Breakfast good and a varied choice.

Great central point fir visiting Alnwick, Bamburgh, Seahouses and not too far from Berwick

Good facilities, good service and great location.

Hotel is fine for the price, staff are good and it is clean and well ran, the only thing is the noise from other rooms, all the doors seem to bang shut at all hours and people having conversations in the corridors at 4am didn’t help

Perfect location for viditing Holy island, Alnwick Castle and Bamburgh Castle. Excellent breakfast with agood selection of cooked and none cooked.

Good stay, met all our needs, very clean. Only problem was the shower which was poor, low pressure jet. Food was excellent.
