What a great place, quirky, clean, impressive and all the amenities you need. Excellent food options and a great bar. Safe, quiet and well worth a visit.

A convenient place with friendly and welcoming staff. However provisions, carpets and other furnishing could do with refurbishment. Breakfast ran out of provisions and staff tried their best to accommodate everyone but we feel they were overwhelmed by number of guests.

We were so disappointed that we were given a room in a random building rather than in the Stables, which we had not been informed about. We received an email explaining that there was a wedding and that the restaurant would be closed to the public. However, when I replied asking for more information, I never received a response. Had I been told that we would not be staying in the courtyard, I would have seriously considered cancelling the booking. The other buildings were absolutely awful and felt more like 2-star accommodation than 4-star. The bathroom floor looked absolutely disgusting, covered in what appeared to be dirt and hair. We later realised this was due to the poor finish of the painted tiles, which had trapped dirt before they dried, giving them a permanently dirty appearance. The bath tap was also loose and heavily rusted. More than anything, the smell of cannabis really upset us. We don't smoke and did not expect to be exposed to that smell, especially during our anniversary stay. The carpets were so stained and dirty that I honestly couldn't walk barefoot on them. That said, we could see that they are trying to refurbish the property, and some of the quirky furniture was lovely. The future may well be bright for the venue; however, I feel it is disrespectful to accept guests while the buildings are still not ready or up to the advertised 4-star standard.

Good value and friendly staff but the bathroom smelt of cigarette smoke and there was a strange smell in the room itself. The hotel is on a lovely estate. Walked into town which took about 30 minutes. The walk is ok once you get across the dual carriageway.

Bizarre and appalling. Never stayed anywhere like it, and that's not a good thing. Bizarre reception area that looks like it was done in the 70's, but they forgot to lay the carpet. Our room faced the car park so had the floodlights from the car park illuminating our room all night. The window only opened a fraction which wasn't enough to keep us cool. They kindly provided 2 tower fans to keep us cool, but they were so old they sounded like a pair of machine guns all night. Nice stains on the carpet. And a "parrot stand" in the corner???? The bathroom? The old tiles were painted green but they hadn't painted all the way to the top. Mold on the sealant and filthy everywhere. To be fair the staff were aware of the "issues" and said that the whole hotel is due to be refurbished. But £140 including breakfast did not reflect this fact. The whole thing was totally bizarre and I felt like I'd been taken advantage of.

We were surprised with how high end this hotel is. Whole hotel is spotless, rooms a nice size, shower fantastic, bed very comfy. We were just above the courtyard where people gathered during the two weddings that were on whilst we stayed, however, this did not disturb us at all. We had breakfast included which was top notch and there were plenty of options. Free parking and free WiFi also a bonus! Only thing that was a negative for us was the heat in the room. It would definitely benefit from having air con, however, this is not the hotels fault and a fan was provided, it just so happened that we stayed in the height of the UK heatwave! We will 100% be returning in the future!

Stayed over the bank holiday weekend. Lovely setting with rabbits and squirrels running around the grounds. Ate at the on-sight restaurant - several items not available on the menu, no lager available either. Food was very good with Sunday roasts. Asked the restaurant manager what time breakfast was on Monday as we had to leave at 8am- he said 7am start! Woke up and went to breakfast around 7.20- all locked up and told by reception that it was open at 8am as it was bank holiday! Made the venue seem very amateur, which is a shame given the property and its lovely grounds!
