The Esplanade Hotel

From the moment we arrived at The Esplanade Hotel, we felt embraced by its warm, welcoming atmosphere. Perched on Paignton’s famous seafront, the hotel offers stunning panoramic views of Tor Bay—best enjoyed from the elegant lounge or the comfort of a sea-facing room. Our room was impeccably clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated in coastal hues. Soft linens, thoughtful amenities, and blackout curtains guaranteed a restful night’s sleep, while the private balcony became our go-to spot for morning coffee and golden sunrise vistas. Service here is nothing short of outstanding. Every team member—from reception to housekeeping and the bar—greeted us with genuine smiles and took the time to anticipate our needs. Special dietary requests at breakfast were handled swiftly, and the full Devonshire spread (local sausages, freshly baked pastries, and home-made marmalade) set us up perfectly for beach walks and town explorations. The hotel’s on-site brasserie serves modern British cuisine that cleverly showcases regional produce. We savored beautifully presented dishes—like seared scallops and Devon lamb—paired with a carefully curated wine list. After dinner, the bar’s live piano sessions struck just the right note for a relaxed evening. Location couldn’t be more ideal: direct beach access, a short stroll to Paignton Pier, and easy links to the steam railway and coastal trail. We have stayed in this hotel several times years ago. It is very outdated however the staff service is excellent, it' has friendly clientele and the views to Scarborough harbour are amazing
