Friendly efficient staff, Nice clean and tidy room plus an excellent breakfast. What more could you want.

Room, and spacious, very clean, staff great, breakfast yummy, Bed a bit too firm for me but you might suit it.

It isvery old building which adds to tis charm but makes access to first and second floors for over 8o's difficult. I probably would not have booked the stay had I know about the incredibly steep and narrow stairs to our room. The staff in the main were friendly and helpful

The hotel had a grand and atmospheric dining room, and the staff, both at breakfast and checking in/out were most welcoming and friendly. A very good breakfast too.

The staff were lovely & helpful and answered all our questions on arrival. The room was very nice with a great bathroom and a fan which was really essential. It was quite noisy from the road traffic passing. Breakfast was really good in fact huge & the bacon was perf

We chose this location to travel to other destinations before heading to Cornwall, but it was a disappointing stay for various reasons to many to name.

Staff were nice and the hotel was ok but there’s not a lot going on in Axminster Also parking can be limited with the outside area of hotel sharing the same space

Excellent central to the town good locatio Small car park. So limited spaces. But there is a town centre car park across the street, good fresh cooked breakfast. Bedrooms clean and fresh renovated, no big deal for me but if you need a lift, no lift! Stairs only

Where to start? Very friendly welcome from lovely lady. Room really clean but very small and stuffy (window opens a few inches but road noise awful). No WIFI which we asked about and were told it was being 'upgraded' and connection was 'fragile' so 'keep trying'. We tried for a couple of hours as we needed it due to there also being no phone signal. It didn't connect. Breakfast was a shambles. Choose from continental OR cooked but continental was missing advertised cheese and cooked meats. I asked if what was on the small table was the entire continental and was told 'yes, it's all there'. So I asked, if I choose a cooked breakfast, can I have a croissant, given that the continental had so little on it. Answer 'no, it's one or the other'. Hospitality at it's finest 🙄 Two types of croissant on offer. Burnt ones which appeared to be reheated from previous day and others which were lovely. They were the only 'bread' option on offer. Otherwise, cereal, juices, yogurts and apples so the poorest continental I have ever seen. Overall, this is a very overpriced hotel with little in the way of actual hospitality.

Check out at 10am is too early. Continental breakfast a bit limit. But Bacon Omelette lovely. Overall, otherwise hotel great and thanks for the upgrade, even better value

A historic hotel with lovely staff. The only downside was the previous occupant of the bedroom had left towels hanging behind a door and they didn’t get removed.

Exactly what we needed

We enjoyed our stay at the George. Highlights were the staff, quality of breakfast and value for money. Our room was a little noisy due to traffic, which would be the only downside to our stay.

Great place in centre of Axminster. Great beers and food. Rooms were big and very comfortable

Ample parking. Friendly helpful staff. Huge English breakfast included. Bar and restaurant on site...lively place on a Friday night in a good way. Room was very good, but no in-room fridge.
