Not a good first impression as told when I got there that they could only accept cash. It was only luck I had cash on me to pay, but it would have been nice to have been warned beforehand. The lone staff member was very helpful, but there were evident language difficulties. Apart from that room very clean and comfortable.

Could not speak to anyone who could understand English! My job finished a day early so I wanted to check out a day early and get a refund but I was passed from one person to another and could not even speak to a manager as they were not on site most of the time! I would not go there again!

Parking easy, staff friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable, shower great! I had a lovely stay at the Gissons. Also the village is quaint and the pub did amazing food!

Can't know it for the price paid. Spotless room and had a massive comfy bed. Staff were welcoming upon arrival and was a lovely stop over on my way to Cornwall

The staff were helpful and friendly but we were initially put in a standard twin when we had booked a deluxe double this was resolved quickly. The room was comfortable and clean but was very tired and there was no hot water. Additionally we weren't informed until we arrived that the on site restaurant and bar were closed for refurbishment, unfortunatly we can't reccomend it and won't be staying again.

Location is perfect, there is a garage nearby, access to the A 38 is nearby and it resides in a lovely village. I was made to feel very welcome by Erica and her team who were more than helpful. Twin room had plenty of space and a nice shower with loads of hot water. Kitchen is currently being renovated so cannot comment on catering, for what I wanted it was perfect.

Clean, tidy and comfortable bed. Erica was very helpful. Car park was not in a good state with pot holes and untidy. No food or drink was not available on site , needs to be more clearer on the booking sites because it was a surprise when i was informed at the hotel.

Would not describe the as a Hotel,no human check in ,room and hotel nothing like the websire, breakfast and bar ,restaurant were an option when we booked but was later ammended Except breakfast still advertised that morning but wasn't available, No public area to sit,no bar open even though they advertised beer garden ,very dull place,we stayed 20 mins then left ,will be contacting hotel for refund

Found it strange no staff really on site only saw 2 and one member of staff seem to cover everything from booking in doing the key to cleaning the rooms, but very pleasant and helpful. The hotel seems to be under refurbishment as the bar and food area was all locked up. Think there is alot of work to be carried out. At first i thought i was the only one staying there. Good hotel for a base to stay

There is no-one in reception.On the night we arrived a very loud alarm went off at around 20 to midnight so after 5 minutes I had to go out of our room to investigate what was happening.It was an alarm from the restaurant area that was closed.There was no number to call in case of emergency.I called the fire alarm people using the number on the wall and the guy told me it wasn't a fire alarm.I then called the only number available for the hotel (a landline number) and no-one answered.By the time I got back to my room at 1 a.m., the alarm finally stopped.To get to the rooms from reception there was a fire door that was wedged open both nights that we were there.We wouldn't go back there.

The place is run down, you pull up and all the signs are telling you to pay for parking. So you do. Then at reception all you have to do is register your car on the system, but it’s to late know. £10:25 out of pocket. My room 208 was clean and tidy.

Room was clean and the bed was firm but comfortable. Not many staff around but were on hand when there was a problem with the room key (it worked the first time going into the room and then not the second time and our key wasn’t the only one - so double check it’ll let you in more than once!) Car park looked a bit like a building site. Looks like they are maybe doing some renovation? No bar or restaurant, but you’re close to Exeter and other eateries. It was good for the price! If you want somewhere cheap, comfortable and clean to sleep close to Exeter.

The room was immaculate and Erica made our stay so lovely! We felt very welcomed and looked after incredibly well, due to Erica we will come stay again when we travel to Devon again.

Just got back from a 2 night stay here. In my experience the hotel was clean & the room nice & spacious, the shower was also decent. However, the negatives I felt were mainly that the hotel staff were extremely hard to contact, it took me 6 phone calls over 2 days before I managed to get through to anyone, and never received any response to emails I had sent. The hotel had no atmosphere, the restaurant/bar did not exist and we only saw a female cleaner, there was no staff around, no reception staff, although the lady cleaner was very friendly & professional. When my partner arrived at the hotel to check-in no staff were present, & his key card was just left on the desk with his name on a piece of paper with it. So he was unsure if he was meant to just take it, but as there was no staff present & no one was answering the phone he just took the key. The tv in the room was in the absolute worst position, it was on a wall to the right hand side of the bed, very high up & to watch it you had to completely turn your neck & body. The hotel is situated in a little village, which we didn’t explore but it was very quiet around. However, on our second night at 2am a baby was crying for a long period of time with the mother shouting at it which kept my partner awake. For a cheap stay it was ok and the bed was very comfy, but next time I’d stay elsewhere & pick somewhere that included breakfast. A positive was that the car park was free, and plenty of spaces.

No one on reception. All keys left on desk with bits of paper with full names on them. I think I was the only female in quite a number, which clearly had my room number visible. Not great safety wise. Key did not work. Had to traipses down steep stairs and narrow corridors to phone then use master key and wait a couple of hours for working key to be sorted. In the meantime received phone call, text and WhatsApp from the hotel trying to contact another guest with issues. Restaurant and car shut. Clearly from reviews this is a long term permanent thing. Large car park with electric charging but really poor lighting by a derelict part of the hotel, with broken barriers. Did not feel safe as a lone female. Room good size and modern, but floor hadn’t been mopped and toilet brush was disgusting. No tea spoons to make a drink. No bedside light so just the very bright downlighting or nothing. Could be so much better if someone was on site and a bit of effort put in
