Had an excellent stay. Everything needed was there, I asked for use of an iron and ironing board as they weren't in room and had them within minutes, had an amazing night's sleep. Thanks

First time here and won’t be the last. Perfect location, very high standard room with extras. Good quality bedding and towels and all round great hotel

Clean, tidy and had 24hr access. Plenty of Parking was Available.

Warned me about the wet paint on one doorway, clearly marked… but not the wet paint on the next one, which got all over my jacket while I was trying to lug all my cases up the many narrow stairs and tiny corridors.

Well looked after by staff. Food excellent. Room very tired and could do with serious reburbishment.

Really lovely hotel including room and breakfast. I'd definitely stay again.

On booking we made a request for either a ground floor or easy accessible room. We recieved no reply, so we looked through the web site. No where does it say we are unable to accommodate disabled persons. So i messaged again. Expedia messaged to say they had accepted our booking & taken payment so we thought our request must be in hand. How wrong we're we.! Not only was our room at the back of the hotel, but up lots of tiny stairs & down stairs & up stairs. We asked to check out but were refused a refund saying they would not refund unless they rebooked the room out. Also blamed expedia for accepting our booking. We were forced to leave other wise we would have been stuck in the room for three days

Had a great trip. Staff is friendly and food is really good. A few nights the bar across the street was loud but did not bother me.

It was a great way to spend our first night in the UK. Very clean. Live music. A lot of history to the building. Friendly staff.

The property is historic and sprawling but badly in need of some TLC, even just a lick of paint would help. The staff there are amazing, nothing is too much trouble for them and they are friendly and welcoming. Saying that they are rushed off their feet due to understaffing. We ate there on the Friday as a table of 9 and everything was great (although they have a new chef and have changed the menu since we were last there and it wasn't as good - most of the starters were bought in stuff) We ate there again on the Sunday and there was only one guy in the kitchen, our main course was late (a couple arrived, ordered and had eaten their meal and left before ours arrived!) with the accompanying fries arriving after my husband had finished his meal. Lots of things not available on the menu; steak, lamb and fish had run out. Thai Cocktails and Tapas were advertised but had never been available. It was obvious staff were embarrassed to continually explain and apologise but they are being let down by the management who's focus is elsewhere unfortunately. Not sure if I would stay again which is unfortunate as we loved our last stay there 2 years ago. If we did go back it would only be because the staff made the stay so pleasant

Wonderful, cute little Inn above a charming pub! Great location. Wonderful area. Parking behind the building was tight, but manageable in a small car.

Not the same nice room as usual as full up was tired and in need of an update but the friendly staff and great service made up for the room

Not too bad, bit of a rabbit warren to find your way round with steep stairs. However had a fire alarm at 4.30 in morning and evacuated to assembly point across street. No fire brigade turned up, no staff to check we were all out.Went back in after 20 minutes when alarm stopped(cold and raining) and found a staff in dressing gown saying someone smoking in room. Not us (don't smoke) but no signs in room stating NO SMOKING. Thought at least an apology for inconvenience caused, but nothing.

Last time I stayed here, it wasn't too bad. For a couple reasons this time was worse. There was a machine that runs through the night making all sorts of different sounds. Then in the morning there were doors slamming all the time while I was trying to sleep. Final nail in the coffin was on the last night when the fire alarm went off at 11:30pm...then 1:30am....and then 4:45am... The next morning when we checked out there wasn't an offer of any compensation for the alarm screeching through our last night. Decent location, central to the town and walkable to the train station, but definitely reconsidering coming back.

Room was quite noisy through the night, boiler sounds in an adjacent area. Thai food was nice but the portion size could have been bigger. Fish and chips were average.

A very pleasant and friendly hotel, staff were very helpful and looked after you. Food in restaurant was good, overall a very good experience.
