The owners were away when I visited and whilst we were still given a warm welcome by Owais it did unfortunately show at breakfast in particular. The first morning the poached eggs weren’t cooked enough and the second, despite preordering the salmon and scrambled eggs the night before when it came to being served them I was told they had run out and they also didn’t have any of the kippers when I asked for these instead. There is also a rather unpleasant smell coming from either the drains or the macerator in the room we were in (room 12).

I would 100% recommend. I shall return if i am to stay in Whitby again. Amazing staff and clean rooms. Thank you for a great stay. 5 stars all around.

The Guest House was very clean throughout. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent quality

Room 15 is a bit small but great views

Breakfast was well cooked and great and friendly service…. Only downside for me was my toilet, no problem with it no being en-suite (room 15) but the toilet itself, very very confide were I struggled to use, sitting down…,

The riviera is in the perfect location, 5 mins to the harbour, but nice and quiet.The hotel room was spotless , of a generous size with an amazing view overlooking the sea. The owners were very welcoming and the breakfast was faultless along with the service which was exceptional. It was our first time here, we will be back definitely, this should be a go to stop for anyone visiting Whitby, thank you.

Guesthouse is in a good position, good food , needs T L C , room ok

Comfortable room just a shame there were so many stairs as we are both elderly and found them a little daunting. Breakfasts were delicious, especially the porridge! Furniture in bedroom rather old and dated but all in all a very nice guesthouse.

On the West Cliffs with a lovely view of the sea and the harbour from our third floor room (the stairs were tiring after a long day!). Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. For £3 the guest house can provide a parking card valid for four days in Whitby. We had no trouble parking in the street around the corner.

Property was excellent! Great location, clean, 3 pounds for parking. My only drawback, 5th floor with no lift. Very slow wifi. Otherwise, very good!

It would to have been given better bread with our breakfast. I know it is available in Whitby! Otherwise we loved our view from the top of the house and enjoyed the excitement of the regatta weekend … especially the fair as it came in to town. Lovely friendly people in Whitby.

Great service from Riviera. I am especially appreciative of them accommodating my very late arrival and check in. The breakfast was also excellent - I highly recommend the smoked kipper if you want something new and different.

No lift ,so being on the third floor climbing all the stairs was not for anyone with disabilities or with walking difficulties (As my partner had ) . Fire escape procedure was not what i would expected from a five storey building .
