I recently stayed at this hotel and it was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve ever had. The value for money is absolutely nonexistent. They assign rooms on the 5th and 7th floors, yet the elevators have reportedly been out of service for at least two weeks. Carrying luggage up and down multiple floors was unacceptable for the price point.they are not offering help rooms shown online are clearly from the few renovated units, but the majority of the rooms are old, worn out, and far from clean. The carpets and curtains were stained and smelled unpleasant. There is no air conditioning, which is shocking for any modern hotel. The windows are like museum style wooden frames that barely open or close, letting in cold air and outside noise. Another strange detail: instead of providing complimentary water, they started to sell a week before and sell them .The towels had no fresh scent and felt poorly maintained. The bed was extremely small, barely the size of a single bed, and not even stable. The base slides to the sides with the slightest movement, making it impossible to sleep comfortably. Overall, this hotel fails in all basic standards of comfort, cleanliness, and service. I would strongly advise future guests to avoid this place there are far better options in the same area for the same or even lower price. I wish I had seen an honest review before booking; hopefully, this helps someone else.

Lift was broken go

The lift was out of action, which seemed to have been for more than a day or so. Although the room had a nice corner window the floor was squeaky walking in it and throughout the night you could hear those above you as they moved around. Stains on the carpet. The bathroom was also awkward where you walked in and had to be an acrobat around the door. Perhaps it was just unlucky…… it was room 303.

The bathroom door was warped and would not close The shower head needed a good clean only worked from 3 outlets on shower head water went all over floor when you turned it on and left running to get hot room very small for twin nowhere to put clothes as such Beds moved about if you sat on them and neither were comfortable Put clothes or no chair in room bed side lights had to be turned off from by door not next to bed Bed moved about if you sat on it Won’t be going there again appalling considering paid £225 for that one night

Positiv: Das Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Frühstück war gut und die Sauberkeit des Zimmers gut bis sehr gut. Negativ: Die Fenster waren undicht, wodurch es im Zimmer deutlich zog. Im Bad gab es Schimmel und zudem keine Heizung. Auch der Aufzug war während des Aufenthalts defekt.

Room is very dated and worn. No complimentary water although my friends room had it (same room type). No chain on door, again my friend's room had one. Lift was not working. Staff were friendly.

Only one lift, not working, staff was quite incompetent at the reception. We had our rooms on the 4th and 5th floor. When we requested that someone carry the luggage they obliged but after a grumpy response. The next morning we complained and got complementary breakfast. Hotel does not match the brand value of Thistle

The elevator didn’t work - we were staying in 5th floor ! Thats madness

As I say - on older property which perhaps needs a bit of attention, but that doesn't amount to be not considering another stay .

Staff great only issue was no plug sockets except tv and kettle points - in this day and age more needed
